01/11/2016 14:11 | Have to agree with your thoughts and assessment.I guess just as the market is almost in limbo at present smaller or micro cap stocks also succumb to investor apathy resulting in a few sells here and there or little activity.I visited the company last month, I'm happy enough and will pen something when SDI next has something to report.Suffice to say whilst there I spoke with one of the guys who is very active across ProReveal, Chromazona and Nugenius.Another decent acquisition wouldn't do any harm to the story and boosting a wider awareness. That said, I'm content where we are and any drop off due to boredom may present an opportunity for others. | hastings
28/10/2016 10:00 | Nice mention for Sentek here as a "prominent player": "Global Soil Moisture Sensors Market to Exhibit 15% CAGR 2016–2020 as Need for Improving Agricultural Productivity Rises Albany, NY -- (SBWIRE) -- 10/18/2016 -- The 56-page research report, titled "Global Soil Moisture Sensors Market 2016-2020," offers a thorough overview of the market. The product segmentation, growth drivers, challenges, key geographical segments, and the competitive landscape of the global soil moisture sensors market have been discussed at length in the research study. As per the research report, the global market for soil moisture sensors is estimated to register a strong 15% CAGR between 2016 and 2020. The growing necessity for conservation of water in irrigation systems and growth of environment-focused NGOs and regulatory bodies are the primary factors estimated to drive the demand for soil moisture sensors. In addition, the need to improve agricultural productivity by measurement of soil moisture content is expected to augment the growth of the market in the coming years. However, the low rate of adoption in emerging economies is projected to restrict the growth of the market. This latest release features a number of updates, such as new saturation and brightness controls and the ability to add cross hairs to an image, but perhaps our favourite of the latest additions is the introduction of fine histogram controls. These allow you to make much more delicate adjustments to the levels on the histogram, resulting in finer control over the display of your images. etc" | rivaldo
19/10/2016 09:14 | Nice 50k OK trade buy at 14.98p just reported - this perhaps indicates institutional/larger entity buying mopping up a few small recent sells. | rivaldo
03/10/2016 18:15 | Looks like the late reported 100k buy at 15p was the cause of today's rise.... | rivaldo
03/10/2016 12:44 | many thanks gnnmartin for your agm report, excellent write up. | the prophet
03/10/2016 08:55 | Interesting to see the bid price move up to 14p after a couple of buys this morning - it normally stays at 13p with a widened spread, whereas this time there's a nice narrow 1p spread for the moment. Perhaps an indicator that there's demand out there/not much stock around. | rivaldo
26/9/2016 08:57 | Also like to extend my thanks to gnnmartin, very nice write up and the fact that he came away happy is a very good positive for me. I didn't attend myself as I just had so much to catch up on after hols, although I am hoping to pop into the HQ in Cambridge either this week or next. Mike better get the kettle on! | hastings
26/9/2016 07:35 | Thanks for the report Nigel, that's a very good point on ProReveal, They should take you on as a consultant, or get you on the BOD instead on Ann Simon (as senior NED). | timbo003
26/9/2016 02:17 | Cheers gnmartin, thx for the AGM report. Good to hear you came away happy - I'm hopeful for further earnings-enhancing acquisitions which will lower the current year P/E of 7.8 based on 1.8p EPS even more. Hopefully you articulated your thoughts on ProReveal to the CEO as well as you laid them out here. | rivaldo
25/9/2016 10:40 | Nice post gnnmartin Good to know (not) that hospitals are allowed to operate with dirty instruments so long as they don't test them properly. All very re-assuring. I would not like to be running a hospital that was sued in such circumstances. | shanklin
25/9/2016 07:27 | Excellent post gunmartin and a very compelling point on sales strategy, I hope the company has the commercial acumen to take it on board | rhomboid
24/9/2016 13:05 | I went to the AGM on Friday, and came away happy. I hope that this year will be better than last, for the reasons given in the annual report, and if for no other reason than Sentek was only in the group for less than half of the last financial year. I hope therefore that we might start to accumulate distributable reserves by the end of the current financial year. However, I don't expect dividends for some years because Ken Ford (chairman) thinks that a company needs a turnover of at least £20m to justify a listing, and he intends to grow SDI by acquisition. So I guess any cash is likely to be spent on growth rather than dividends. My one slight disappointment is the company's strategy for ProReveal. I strongly believe it is unrealistic to sell into hospitals until the makers of sterilisation equipment are claiming their equipment meets the demanding standards set by (specifically) ProReveal. If the hospital is not confident it can react quickly and successfully to a warning generated by ProReveal, it will not instal ProReveal. In such circumstances, ProReveal might show them that their procedures are adequate, in which case they do not positively need ProReveal, or it might show them that their procedures need to be replaced, in which case they positively don't want ProReveal. I asked Mike (CEO) what he thought would happen if ProReveal showed a hospital that their sterilisation procedures were ineffective, and Mike said the hospital would have to close, and said that hospitals do close when such problems are encountered. Mike did not seem to realise that that would be a major force inhibiting the hospital from installing ProReveal. Of course, nobody will ever say that they don't want to instal ProReveal because the hospital is afraid its sterilisation procedures are not good enough. But they will find that they have 'other priorities', and to the extent that they do think about the need to meet the new standard (which in effect mandates ProReveal) they will focus on the need to identify equipment that will enable them to meet the standard before focusing on equipment (ie ProReveal) that may tell them they do not meet the standard. I therefore believe that SDI need to sell to the makers of sterilisation equipment who can demonstrate (using ProReveal) that their equipment meets the new standard. Only when a manufacturer can convince a hospital that their equipment can meet the standard will the hospital risk installing ProReveal. It may be effectively mandated for UK hospitals, but other strategies have been mandated for hospitals with a mixture of carrot and stick, but been ignored. There, got that off my chest. I hope that SDI will find their way to a good strategy for ProReveal. | gnnmartin
22/9/2016 14:29 | Interesting noble3r - a lot better than the 14.44p the 69k buyer paid earlier today! | rivaldo
22/9/2016 12:29 | Thanks for the spot. Just added a few more | t0pgrader
22/9/2016 11:49 | nice buying opportunity presenting itself - currently BUY is at 13.69p | noble3r
22/9/2016 10:34 | Yet another new product introduced by one of SDI's companies (Synbiosis) which hasn't been posted here before: "Gravimetric diluter 2nd August 2016 Synbiosis introduces its new ProDilute gravimetric diluter. The system, complete with automated volume adjustment diluting is suitable for busy microbiology laboratories that want rapid, accurate and repeatable sample dilutions. The ProDilute features automatic dilution of diluent based on the weight of the sample, guaranteeing precision, as well as protecting microbiologists from repetitive strain injury issues associated with repeatedly pipetting large numbers of dilutions. Using the ProDilute, which is compatible with the Synbiosis ProBlend sample blending system, dilutions (1 to 1/100) of blended food and environmental samples can be processed at speed. The dilutions are dispensed using space saving ‘Plug and Play’ flexible pumps, which can be added as and when the laboratory is busy, allowing up to four different diluents to be dispensed. With ProDilute, contamination issues are reduced through the easy-to-use dispensing nozzles and the ‘finger stop’ system. The diluter also has a detachable bag holder and is built from stainless steel, making cleaning quick and simple. “Busy food testing labs often require a precise, high capacity and contamination free system for diluting samples,” comments Kate George, Senior Divisional Manager at Synbiosis, “the new ProDilute is perfect for this application. Since the diluter is compatible with our new ProBlend, this integrated technology is ideal for microbiologists looking for a safe method of improving their accuracy and throughput when processing multiple food samples for microbial testing.” | rivaldo
16/9/2016 15:04 | Some activity this afternoon, with 3 buys of 119,000 shares, including one at 15.85p. Can't see a particular catalyst? | rivaldo
08/9/2016 11:52 | if the MM's are happy to take/buy 626k of shares at 13.75p this makes me very happy indeed. | noble3r
08/9/2016 11:39 | Looks like a bit of stock moving around. | hastings
06/9/2016 14:28 | or to put it another way - the only reason the share price is increasing is because some are selling, this is the volume that this share desperately needs | noble3r
06/9/2016 14:24 | Yes off course, my point being that recently buying has prompted a seller to emerge into strength and reversing much of the gains, however it does not appear to be the case today. | pj 1
06/9/2016 14:07 | this stock needs a seller otherwise there'd be no shares to buy for any new PI. | noble3r
06/9/2016 11:53 | Will it flush the seller out again? Looking good | pj 1
06/9/2016 11:40 | with some volume the skies the limit! nice tick up. | noble3r |
