21/12/2007 10:15 | Several of my stocks have just done it. I think it's the witching hour auction. | wjccghcc
21/12/2007 10:12 | 333p this am - in backwardation, something is afoot ! | crapjokes
19/12/2007 19:24 | Bids for BIFFA etc will also help sentiment towards companies such as RPS. Private Equity firms can nip in, buy the company, then sell off/float the individual components and make a stonking profit. Although they're not in the same sector, the same thought process applies. Doesn't work as well with single business companies, as they're harder to break up and make money on. | jonnycj
12/12/2007 17:16 | Don't want to speak too soon but RPS has been very resilient recently, compared to now much lower rated but equally high-growth FTS250 stocks such as CHTR, KLR etc. I'm now in profit on RPS. Could be time to switch but RPS are highly regarded. | deadly
08/12/2007 20:02 | Citi note was written with the stock at 330p ish and was doing a comparative valuation. Looks like Citi got it spot on - and therefore it's now cheap to fairly valued imho. Shares still offer growth going forward, which translates into increased eps and higher divs, which lowers the p/e and peg and makes the share price go up. | jonnycj
07/12/2007 14:34 | Well we know how unsuccessful Citigroup are don't we? | phillis
06/12/2007 16:37 | In a note to clients, Citigroup said according to its estimates RPS is the second-most expensive share in its peer group but offers only average growth. | dr darkstar
04/12/2007 11:39 | deadly - you're right there, but personally I think they are all going to get a lot cheaper in the first half of 08. Economic storm clouds are gathering. | bletherer
03/12/2007 18:46 | There are plenty of FTSE250 companies with P/Es of 20 and above. Of course they could all get a lot cheaper. But it's those with quality of earnings which tend to have these ratings and RPS is one of them with good reason as it is to a large extent in a sector which is not affected by current economic worries. Sentiment can change in the short term but I'm sure the earnings will continue as predicted and sentiment would return to the long term trend. | deadly
03/12/2007 10:14 | I don't think there's any question that this is a very solid company, but it's gone up in an uninterrupted line for about 2 years now, which must have attracted some momentum players - and these will now be exiting given the clear break of the upward trend and no obvious support levels above 220ish apart from Fib retracement targets. It is not particularly cheap at these levels, and if general market sentiment is weak over coming months then growth stocks could get pushed back to more modest P/Es, say around 15 in this case rather than the current 20. | bletherer
03/12/2007 09:29 | I agree Deadly - you only have to look at excerpts from last interims in August to see where this is going medium term. HIGHLIGHTS 2007 2006 Fee income (£m) 144.4 117.4 +23 % Operating profit (£m)1 23.2 17.3 +34 % Profit before taxation (£m)1 21.6 15.9 +36 % Outlook The opportunities in all our businesses remain encouraging; the need for support by clients wanting to undertake property and infrastructure development and management remains strong, at a time when environmental regulation gets ever more stringent. There are good indications that high levels of operational activity from the oil and gas companies over the next few years will be maintained and will continue to require our skills. The strengthening of our Energy business in Australia and North America enables us to introduce other RPS services into these countries. This provides a sound base for further development and significant long term growth potential. The opportunity provided to us by the need to measure, manage and reduce greenhouse gases in order to mitigate global warming is already generating new revenue sources for RPS. We anticipate these will grow, underpinned by tighter regulation and legislation being enacted around the world. The Board is encouraged by progress so far this year and remains confident about prospects for the full year. | melody9999
02/12/2007 23:16 | Unless we're heading for a full blown recession which is scarcely credible then this is well oversold. I can see more reassurance coming into the banking sector this week and with the run up to Christmas a rebound for good companies like this. | deadly
30/11/2007 16:20 | 6 YEARS ON AND LOOKING VERY WEAK TODAY | dr darkstar
30/11/2007 16:16 | LOOKS LIKELY TO CLOSE BELOW MOST RECENT SUPPORT, ONLY 300 IN THE WAY OF AN AVALANCHE?? | dr darkstar
30/11/2007 12:02 | deadly - maybe, but I don't like the look of the chart too much on this one. The November sell-off has broken the long-term uptrend on the chart I'm looking at, and if it fails to hold key support at 300 then there could be a lot more selling ahead IMO. | bletherer
30/11/2007 10:08 | nice fall today, without obvious reason. Chance to get a few. Otherwise gone a bit quite on here of late. | deadly
31/10/2007 22:09 | hi rrr - about time we had another new high - I'm not used to more than a couple of months with RPS without it. Given the share graph, it would have been more surprising if we had not broken out again! Happy days! | melody9999
31/10/2007 11:04 | Remarkable rise so far today, I wonder why. | rrr
25/10/2007 15:44 | Post 30 seems to be lost. | rrr
25/10/2007 10:29 | Consensus forecast earnings for 2007 have jumped from 14.64p to 14.90p in the last week. They have a tendency to creep up anyway, but this is a big jump considering it's an average of up to nine brokers' forecasts. | dull gull
25/10/2007 08:39 | Had this share since Feb. Looks like it might get back to new highs if it keeps popping up a few pence every day. Wonder if there is something happening and its started to leak out. The shares are cheap on the results but not much of a mention anywhere. This is a very quiet thread.... | nickjoseph
05/10/2007 22:05 | didn't take long to bounce back then - trend intact and all time high must be a possibility if the indices behave. | melody9999
28/9/2007 11:31 | Hmm, the break back below 350 is a bit of a disappointment. Too early to say but the increased volatility is a bit suspicious - that can often be associated with major market tops, and RPS has had a quite incredible run over the last few years. 320 should be very strong support if the selling continues, but if it goes back that far then a head and shoulders top could be building. | bletherer |
