31/3/2016 10:43 | Several years ago, I reviewed my portfolio and 'investing style' and asked myself why I spent so much time researching 'the next big thing' rather than focusing on the success stories already in the portfolio. As a result, I decided to keep adding to existing investments where performance had been good but valuations still seemed reasonable. RPC, first acquired in November 1999, was one of those - along with Avon, Diploma, Interserve and Tyman - and I both added in the market and also took up all the Rights available in the past few years, the latter being a real game-changer as a result of which RPC has grown from a modest initial investment to my second largest holding. It's a great share and it looks set for growth for a good while yet. I just kick myself for not doing the same with SUS and SGC (the latter acquired for 39p has been over £4). Psychology is a funny thing! | jeffian

14/1/2016 09:23 | RPC is Investors Chronicle Old Reliable Tip of the Year for 2016-so, does that mean that we should all jump ship? A short valuation recap, with EV of £2775.9m, EBITDA ratio of 11, free cash flow yield of 3%, PE of 18x, and a progressive dividend yield of 2.2%, the company is not outstandingly cheap, especially at IC's tipped price of 817p. I think their timing was poor, the company was glowing under the positive cost cutting assumptions of the Global Closure Systems (GCS) acquisition, assuming everything will be great is often an error, at least in the short term, the stock looked very over-bought above 800p, having almost doubled in a year. I think the stock will have to come back some more, to be attractive again-I suspect the buyers will return at around the 650p-700p level-hold. Filters on. | utsushi

29/12/2015 16:48 | "The Board has declared an interim dividend of 5.2p per share (2014 restated: 4.4p) and is in line with the Group's progressive dividend policy which has been in place since RPC's flotation in 1993. This will be paid on 26 January 2016 to ordinary shareholders on the register at 29 December 2015."Think I'm right in saying that Ex Div is usually at least a day or two before record/register date, given the bank holidays & weekend this would mean Ex Div was the 24th.DD | discodave4

21/12/2015 09:41 | Your conclusion to #845 - "With rising interest rates providing negative headwind I suspect the stock has a further 10-15% upside, the risk/reward not great in a mature market-would rate the stock a hold." Rather grudging, I would have thought, rather than a "positive recommendation"! | jeffian
21/12/2015 09:03 | Good to see that after my positive recommendation in July this year, Post 845, RPC is now up 24%, not a bad result in just 5 months. You could buy in sizeable volume too-with reasonable liquidity. I have a very small holding, its probably a hold now-fortunately the facts "speak for themselves", at least some of the time! | utsushi
