24/6/2016 10:05 | Well now we know. Quite benign in reality, could have been a lot worse. I'm no longer a holder in any case but will get back in if the price is right. GLA | oiht

20/6/2016 18:35 | Royal Mail’s (RMG) Spanish subsidiary has acquired express parcels delivery rival ASM Transporte Urgente in a €71m deal. The UK-listed group said ASM, which generated €78m of revenue in 2015, would allow it to offer a comprehensive national and international service in Spain, and should lead to post tax earnings in the 2018/19 financial year. | spacecake

19/5/2016 15:14 | From above.. Analysts have pencilled in pre-tax profit of £429.7m, up 7.4 per cent on a year earlier, despite a forecast 1 per cent fall in revenue to £9.2bn. Earnings per share of 36.5p are expected, down from 42.8p last year. Actual, pre tax profit £538m, Revenue £9.251, EPS 41.3p So a bit better than analyst were expecting. | spacecake
19/5/2016 11:00 | Good to see RMG is just another AT -affected stock, whipped up just before results, whipped back down on results. See NG today for similar behaviour. sp now is about what it was 3 days ago (~490). Shucks. SNAFU maybe! | tonio
19/5/2016 10:41 | I know yesterday's close was inflated by that last minute spike, but I'm surprised the price has come off this much today. OK, the results weren't that good, but surely not this bad? | eaaxs06

15/5/2016 19:29 | Post operator’s growing challenges Investors will have more than Royal Mail’s operational performance on their minds when it delivers full-year results. As it celebrates its 500th birthday, the postal operator must negotiate a series of hurdles. The outcome of a root-and-branch review by the regulator Ofcom is soon expected, with the possibility of price controls, while the company could be fined under a separate competition investigation. Pay talks are under way with the Communication Workers Union, which analysts believe is bargaining for an above-inflation rise for its 130,000 members. Attention will then turn to the thorny issue of pensions. Royal Mail has said the current arrangement — involving annual employer contributions of £400m — may not be affordable beyond 2018. With the number of letters that Britons send in inexorable decline, the FTSE 100 group has pinned hopes for growth on parcel delivery. But it faces intense competition from smaller rivals that are investing heavily in warehouses and sorting technology. Analysts have pencilled in pre-tax profit of £429.7m, up 7.4 per cent on a year earlier, despite a forecast 1 per cent fall in revenue to £9.2bn. Earnings per share of 36.5p are expected, down from 42.8p last year. Shares in the company trade at £4.92, having gained 10.6 per cent so far in 2016. | spacecake
