05/12/2017 11:01 | I wonder who will carry the can for Treesa's latest foul up? 04/12/2017 19:34 | Well leeds, I'd go along with a change of management, cos Treesa aint up to it. All she appears to good for is sound bites with little substance, and very iffy judgement. The NI thing was so badly thought out, it got shot to pieces within minutes. She's gone imo. | maxk

04/12/2017 18:37 | Labour wont get in: Do you think the snowflakes are stupid enough to fall for the false promises a send time around? The influential Brexiteer Jacob Rees-Mogg said that Tory MPs would not allow the regulation even of Northern Ireland to be aligned with the EU. “We cannot align the regulation of one part of the United Kingdom with the European Union. If we align the whole of the United Kingdom then we haven’t left the European Union so there is a logical impossibility of doing what the Irish government proposes,” he told reporters outside the meeting of backbench Conservative MPs. Rees-Mogg said the DUP and the Conservative party were in total agreement. He said: "Gavin Barwell made it absolutely clear. As he said, we are not going to trade on distinctions between Great Britain and Northern Ireland. That would be completely intolerable. We are the Conservative and Unionist party after all." 04/12/2017 15:37 | srpactive, You're right - five years ago the DOW/FTSE ratio was around 1.9, now it's at an ATH of 3.32. If you can't figure it out, I suggest you fly to NY, buy an Amtrak rail pass and spend 3-4 weeks travelling between the East and West coasts, making sure you rent cars from time to time, to explore as much as possible. If Corbyn becomes PM , expect the ratio to reach 5-6 pretty quickly, as the indices move in opposite directions! | polar fox

04/12/2017 15:04 | NatWest branch closure programme Further to Friday's posts, I just dropped by my local branch. It was plastered with printed notices of closure on June 25. Since I was the only customer, I asked the two female cashiers when my former branch (10 miles away) would be shutting and the answer was June 12. So it looks like the bank is aiming to complete the whole programme just before the Interims, since they said June 25 is virtually the last closing date. It won't be a big deal (they said) in terms of my C/A being switched to the branch in a major town about 15 miles away - same sort code, same a/c number. We'll see. Since I shop in said major town a couple of times a week, I'm cool about everything. Clearly, the cost savings will be significant, like two under-employed cashiers and a customer services manager surfing her computer! | polar fox
04/12/2017 15:03 | The ftse 100 used to be always around half the value of the Dow, as when we were around 7000, the dow was around 14 - 15000, now with the ftse100 still around 7400 the Dow is 24450. Can anyone give a reason for the ftse100 being virtually unchanged whilst the dow has risen 50%? Thank you in advance. | srpactive

04/12/2017 12:56 | The British government appears to have bowed to the Republic of Ireland’s demand that Northern Ireland will not diverge from key EU laws and regulations in the future so as to ensure that a hard border does not return to the island. Live Britain concedes on Irish border, senior MEP says after Barnier meeting - Politics live Rolling coverage of the day’s political developments as they happen, including Theresa May’s meeting with Jean-Claude Juncker intended to conclude phase one of the Brexit talks and MPs debating the EU withdrawal bill Read more According to sources, MEPs were told by the chief Brexit negotiator, Michel Barnier, that Theresa May had conceded after days of intense talks that the province would be treated as a special case with “continued regulatory alignment” between the north and south of the island after Brexit. A draft of the text of a 15-page joint agreement between the European commission and the British government is said to include a commitment in paragraph 48 that “in the absence of agreed solutions the UK will ensure that there continues to be continued regulatory alignment” with the internal market and customs union. | leedskier
