I did ask myself, on this thread a few days back " Why should a Trump win be bad for stock markets?", I could not find a reason. That rumour was manufactured by the "media"- someone had an agenda, obviously.

I just hope he keeps NATO strong. We cannot have NATO countries being invaded by Russia.

I think he will be good for business. The market thinks so too.

From Bloomberg:

You need to go all the way back to the dark days of 2008 to find a stock market reversal to rival that of the last 12 hours, in which S&P 500 Index futures erased a 5 percent loss triggered by Donald Trump’s surprise presidential election win. Bigger turnarounds only happened three times before, twice in the final months of 2008 and the other in October 1987, data compiled by Bloomberg show. Stocks turned higher on Wednesday as speculation the Republican will pursue business-friendly policies offset some of the broader uncertainty surrounding his ascent.

"We think the main result of Donald Trump's election will be that Trump will be able to appoint regulators who are more industry friendly than regulators appointed by President Obama," KBW's Brian Gardner wrote in a note.

US bank stocks are climbing

Donald Trump's electoral win may have sent markets into shock on Tuesday night, but bank stocks are climbing on Wednesday.

As of about 10:20 am ET Wednesday:
•Bank of America was up about 3.5%
•Goldman Sachs was up about 2%
•JPMorgan was up about 3%
•Morgan Stanley was up about 2.5%
•Wells Fargo was up about 3%

Citigroup's stock was down about 0.7%.

Trump's win confounded the polls and sent volumes in the futures market surging.

Markets then bounced back, as the world digested the news and Trump's conciliatory victory speech. VIX futures, or bets on the so-called Fear Index, subsided after jumping as the election results turned toward Trump.

Bank stocks are typically seen as a gauge for the financial industry more broadly.

back to RBS...if W&G is disposed of for £1.3B and provisions are _-£5B then RBS should be in a good place for DoJ fine....their biz in the US was nowhere near Deutsche Bank..so I am feeling a bit more bullish that we are bottoming here.
Will post any news I get back from contacts in RBS...
