LONDON-- The U.K.'s Serious Fraud Office Monday said it has opened an investigation related to suspected corruption by metals and mining company Rio Tinto PLC (RIO.LN) in Guinea, West Africa.
The SFO did not give any further details of its investigation.
Rio Tinto said the company "will fully co-operate with the Serious Fraud Office and any other relevant authorities, as it has done since it self-reported in November 2016."
