So FWIW I've just called advfn and asked them specifically about this. How come precinct's post with 6 votes for and 1 against gets into the top posts list while barkboo's post 20 minutes later on the same thread with 15 for and 1 against doesn't.

The immediate reaction from advfn was that it must be a glitch in the system, but they will pass it on to the technical team to have a look at.

The person I asked said it was unlikely to be anything to do with ip addresses because most people had dynamic ip addresses anyway and he didn't think the advfn system would do any checks on ip addresses, at least for "top posts" purposes.

If I get anything different or more definitive I will post it up.

You're missing the point, football. How does a post outscore all other current posts, yet not appear in the top posts listings? Could it be that several of those votes were identified as coming from the same IP address? I'm sure advfn can explain.

Loaf, you'd assume that RhythmOne should be able to fill its owned and operated supply. Then the question is why they are not being able to fill those in which they have first look.

Good post, 1gw! With regards to the 3 metrics mentioned, price will increase due to the addition of the new ad formats.IMO the main variable to work on is the fill rate. However, should this not sort itself out once all DSPs and adkarma are integrated and fully operational?

Programmatic revenue is a function of reach, fill rate and price isn't it?

Quantcast and ComScore give an insight into reach.

You wouldn't expect any direct correlation between reach and revenue when fill rate and price are so volatile, but it is one of the 3 key factors isn't it? If R1 ever gets to some sort of "steady state" operation where fill rate and price are less volatile then reach would become correspondingly more significant as an indicator of revenue.

But in the meantime I would have thought it is maybe worth talking about a bit. If R1 can maintain decent US reach especially, then it has given itself the platform from which to try to improve the other 2 factors (i.e. fill rate and price).

I haven't seen much discussion on this board or the others of data that supports a discussion on price or fill rate, so reach seems to be one of the main things affecting revenue for which there is some data to discuss.

there is no proven correlation between rankings and revenue.

In terms of Header Bidding, the point is when it was adopted. The earlier adopters, Pubmatic, have done really well, the late ones, Rubicon Project, have not.

BARKBOO what some people can't get there head around here is that a 100 to 150 people read these MB's everyday but less than 1% post here and it doesn't stop them from voting posts up or down just because they are not posting but only reading them
