So what causes a stock to quickly appreciate in value? Fundamentals? News? Management? Well yes, to a degree. But what REALLY moves a stock price northward that you just purchased?
Answer: A Huge volume of buyers having been directed to the emergence of that stock by a qualified service which has a reputation for doing so. THIS service does:

LONDON (AFX) - Premier Foods PLC (LSE: PFD.L - news) has approached rival British food manufacturer RHM PLC (LSE: RHM.L - news) about a takeover, a move which would create a 2 bln stg food giant, according to press reports this weekend.
RHM declined to comment on the reports, while Premier could not immediately be reached.
Without citing sources, both The Sunday Times and Sunday Telegraph claimed Premier's chief executive Robert Schofield approached the smaller company last week.
The Telegraph said more formal talks could start this week.
Premier, which makes Ambrosia custard and Branston Pickle, lost out in the race to buy United Biscuits earlier this year.
Meanwhile, shares in RHM, owner of Bisto and Hovis, have struggled since floating a year and a half ago, amid a string of profit warnings.
The papers suggested a merger could generate significant cost savings and give the larger group superior muscle power when negotiating with suppliers and supermarkets.

Hello RandomWalker,

Good to see you here, looking forward to seeing this one go gradually North.

Short VAN & NXT at the moment.

Long SEY & RHM.

Had a fantastic run short RMV (short for the trip down the mine last July) and IOT. Also a long CKSN. All closed now.

Don't think the CWD thing is over yet, maybe they want to take it private but maybe 3i don't think it's worth £5 + per share. I'm watching CWD constantly with a view to shorting it heavily if 3i get cold feet.

Best regards

Sorry about off-thread.

Good luck holders.

PS: Apologies for delay in replying, have been out buying as much Paxo and Mr Kipling tarts that I can fit in me cupboard.

Hi Yotter
Nice to see you in this stock now we have finished with the wretched CWD. Steady boring stock this one, easily worth current share price.....but never going to excite the double yer money overnight lot.
I looked at my best performing shares this year....BT,LAND,SPW,AAL....all boring. perhaps boring is the new black?

I forgot to mention (not that anyone cares?) - that the last
RNS on the 24th as far as I can tell constituted an
increase of 'Franklin resouces inc''s stake from
3.09% (in May) to 4.01%. (about 3 million shares).

No doubt they figured it was worth buying at similar
prices that they must have paid 5 months ago :-)

Yes, I too have been looking at these again. The forward yield has crept up to 6.3% already. Am tempted to buy back in, but will probably wait for the Trading update due on 31st October.

Hi Aleman

nice to have some company, I have to say I keep looking at the increasing
yield and saying it is gotta be getting more and more attactive.
I am pretty confident divi wouldn't be vulnerable even with slowing sales,
since companies like RHM (cf. northern foods etc) know that
their yields are what keep investors interested.

Fact is, if we drop to 250 then we'd be on a yield of 6.5% (cover of
about 1.6) - which blows away the rest of the sector...

I for one will be buying even more if we get anywhere near that price.

As for frozen foods, mate I have never eaten a tasty one so I dunno
how to interpret your comments :-)

I only bought in a little while ago and am not over the moon about the drift. The AGM statement didn't sound overly positive but I am not impressed by the new Bisto branded frozen meals. I got two on a BOGOF offer and they were awful. I'd sack whoever put them in the marketplace. I hope it has no significant effect on results.

Hmmmm.. testing 261-262 again (like it did yesterday) -
hard to see where decent support is, if it breaks 260
then there is probably more downside.

All in all though given the results are due in less than
2 weeks, you gotta wonder if bad news is behind all the sales
pressure.

Nonetheless, if u assume the predicted divi of 16.32p still holds
at an share price of 262 we are on a fantastic yield of 6.2%!!
Very tasty :-)
