Hmmm, I bet the institutions are milking this, once they've got their shares, they'll race it up to £7.00 and take the 90p premium from present price, seen this all before.

As I understand it there remains a sufficient risk element in the deal for the market to remain doubtful about it proceeding - the golden share - regulatory approvals etc - the deal is part cash and part Thompson shares on an approx 50/50 basis which adds to this uncertainty - the market does not like risk and holds back the share price for the time being - the market does not expect a counter bid either - jarbie

Don't understand these, if the merger is worth £7.00, then why are they £6.11, someone care to explain?

Short term swings should be ignored for what is basically a £7.00 per share deal.

sounds like this is a good merger with huge saving potential, plus the two boards are willing partners. I reckon they have done the home work on the regulatory front and thought about the chance to succeed in merger. even the name has been agreed. on balance, there is a great chance the merger will suceed, then the agreed price is very attractive.
