Elmwood is worth $8.5m - cash at June 09 is worth $9.7m (see prior RNS). That makes £11m with possible proceeds of biofuels and the other plan to come. Versus a current market cap of £7.3m

harmonics - best case is one of the 'potential' bids coming in at a premium for the cash + listing + tax losses. Worst case is the company decides on a new strategy and tries to hold on to the majority of the cash as working capital.

harmonics - joined a bit late I think, it's not an investment, but as hedge as to how much cash the company will return to shareholders as it's broken up - it 'may' be in the region of 12p or it may not.

I think they want to sell on the company to realise tax losses.

rns today

much depends on if they can can sell the bio plant or not
that would realize an asset as cash:

"It is likely that there will be an interim capital distribution and a final
capital distribution. The timing of the distributions has not been determined
but it is currently anticipated that, assuming closing of the Plant Disposal has
occurred, the interim distribution will be made as early as October 2009 to
release the funds from the Plant Disposal"

what's their strategy after a possible disposal?
Wind up the company, returning cash (if any) to shareholders, and delist

or
let another company take over the listing
and parade themselves to suitors as a cash shell?

interesting results:

Assetts of 42 Mill $ = 27p per share
Cash of 25 Mill $ = 16p per share

Have I understood that correctly - if so, it could be worth buying at this price?

President Obama gives biofuels support
11 May 2009

US President Barack Obama has proven his support for the biomass and biofuel industries by providing nearly $800 million (€588 million) in funding and forming a market development programme.

The new funding will be allocated under the directive of the US Department Of Energy biomass programme across four main areas which include $480 million (€353 million) to the solicitation for integrated pilot-and demonstration-scale biorefineries, $176.5 million for commercial-scale biorefinery projects, $110 million for fundamental research in key program areas, and $20 million for ethanol research.

Earlier in the week the President signed a Presidential Directive establishing a Biofuels Interagency Working Group, to be co-chaired by the secretaries of agriculture and energy and the US Environmental Protection Agency administrator. The group will work to identify new policies to support the development of next-generation biofuels; increase flexible-fuel vehicle use and assist in retail marketing efforts; coordinate infrastructure policies impacting the supply, secure transport and distribution of biofuels, and identify new policy options to promote the environmental sustainability of biofuels feedstock production while taking into consideration land use, habitat conservation, crop management practices, water efficiency/quality and life-cycle assessments of greenhouse gas emissions.

Numerous renewable energy companies voiced their approval and support of the funding and working group, including ethanol giant Poet. 'The creation of this working group to develop the ethanol industry and infrastructure is exactly what's needed to keep the country moving toward cleaner, greener fuels,' said Poet CEO Jeff Broin. 'The federal government can play an important role by encouraging the production of flexible fuel vehicles and the installation of blender pumps and other ethanol infrastructure.'
