Not so sure about that 1406 - there are many long term holders who are simply unhappy with PT.

Shares are up almost 50% from the lows reached earlier this year so have they further to go? I think so for the following reasons:
1. even following the recent steady rise the shares trade on a low multiple of 7.5x historic earnings. The market is trading on well above 10x.
2. the business is growing across its 5 divisions, the two loss making businesses which have been a drain for sometime, notably Haydens, are now profitable with solid growth plans.
3. within the next 15 months RGD will announce its deal with Omnicane to take its sugar. This will represent a further 50% increase in the sugar business by itself and from all the signals given in the company's announcements and presentations I believe its fair to assume other deals on the sugar side between the two companies are highly probable.
4. Ongoing buyers in the market mopping up loose stock.
5. management options dont kick in until the shares reach 100p minimum and then at 50p intervals up to 250p.
6. Broker research coming in the next month with major report on the sugar business highlighting its growth potential.

That is enough for me. GLAH

Decent volume and share price held up, it would be great to see a further rise tomorrow.

It will be interesting to see whether the share price keeps the gains given this is the highest price for well over a year. Could we be in break out territory?

Yes, a very positive announcement. Jon Tanner was very positive about business generally at the recent AGM, and these are probably a couple of the deals he was working on. Hopefully more in the pipeline. No surprise the strength of the share price over the last few weeks.

More positive news announced today with significant new sugar supply contracts won with ASDA and Bookers, new sugar supply handling operation nearing completion and ongoing buyers in the market, makes for good reading. GLAH

Another late trade of 150k shares at 51.75p, buyer carries on building stake.

Volumes on Friday and Monday were well above average with over 500k shares traded in total, so looks like the buyer is still picking up loose stock, hopefully another shareholding announcement soon.

kjp, nothing ludicrous in your speculation. RGD is a cheap share with a significant discount to its break up value so all sorts of potential buyers could be interested, although Omnicane look most likely. I agree that it feels like an ongoing buyer is mopping up shares in the background. Interesting times ahead.

BG, it's a very valid question as to why the related party payments to PT via Menton Investments were not declared in previous annual reports. I recall seeing similar behaviour at MUBL. I imagine that, in addition to his salary and consultancy fees, PT probably doesn't find himself out of pocket on expenses either!

It's this sort of slack corporate governance that puts off institutional investors and punishes the company's valuation.

There is no doubting PT is very well rewarded far his services and the rating would probably be higher if the same results were being achieved with a different board. However, despite the high salaries the company is still delivering strong earnings growth so I suspect PT would say he deserves it. PT introduced Omnicane who I see as being critical to the Company's future so I am happy to live with the high remuneration.

I would be surprised if the current buying were not Omnicane as they seem to be very supportive and must now be very close to the business. Should be a good sign as I can see no reason for them continuing their buying if they felt the results were going to disappoint.

Yes, I get very tired of hearing the same 'doubling in three years' rubbish. I've heard it some many times. I still like the underlying business and much of the way it is performing and being run. How many times can you say 'exciting' or 'excited' in the same article without losing credibility?

Perhaps Omnicane are still buying in the market, or perhaps someone else is interested.

I think the interims should be interesting. Capex will obviously be high, but we know that. Hopefully we'll see profits up, as most of the operating units seem to be performing well.

BTW, I'd be interested in anyone else's view on the footnote to the diretors' remuneration (note 12), which says:

"Short term Employee Benefits include Salaries received as an officer of the Company. Seperate to these payments, consultancy fees are paid to entities in which the directors hold a beneficial interest. These payments are disclosed as related party transactions in note 29."

The salaries have rocketed to ridiculous levels over the last two years. If the related party payments are truly in addition, then it's scandalous.

Further, despite large payments being shown in the prior year, if you look in last year's accounts, I can't spot a disclosure. Very strange. Any thoughts?

Feels like an ongoing buyer in the market, might we see Omnicane increasing their stake again! Still trading on sub 7x last years earnings while the market is well into double digits and other foodies such as Finsbury are trading at 12-13x.

BrianG a three year plan to almost double turnover and profitability is a tall order and personally I would prefer PT to stop making such long term predictions but at least his actual record is impressive if not reaching the levels predicted.
