Various LONDON listed LITHIUM plays....

John201720 Feb '17 - 22:24 - 1276 of 1288 5 0

Mugabe took over the foreign diamond mines recently so what stops him taking over the Lithium deposits or the mining operations of prem?

MUGABE or as they say in Yorkshire EBAGUM will be dead soon but then what for ZIM?!?!?

The likes of EMH, BCN and even KOD are IMHO at this point in time much safer LITHIUM bets!

REM are in both EMH & BCN for sure....dunno if REM are also into KOD?

R.E.M. were right to walk away from the Tesla deal as the price of lithium had more than doubled since 2015.Don't worry, there will be plenty of other companies wanting our lithium.Patience my friend.

Still not seen the word Tesla in an REM news release since the original announcement of 28 August 2015 which was 18 months ago.

"On the condition that, over the next two years, the Sonora Lithium Project reaches certain performance milestones and successfully passes product specification qualifications, Tesla - or its authorised purchasers - will buy lithium hydroxide to feed the manufacturing of batteries at Tesla's Gigafactory in Nevada."

Should we not be updated with the progress of these milestones, so that we know how likely it is that this will go ahead? We are getting close to the end of that 2 year period and have heard nothing. Is the supply agreement still in place?

Fair points Rossowheel.I haven't bought back in here for some of the reasons you outline.There is no good reason why REM should command a premium to NAV.Neil Woodford's biotech fund stood on a premium of some 10% for awhile after launch but that was exceptional with investors keen to get an exposure to unquoted biotech vehicles.Yet it is extraordinary how such thinking is now generally accepted when in the past(even before EMH came along)REM spiked to around 2p and had a market cap of some three,four times current levels.Simple weight of money I guess.A trend ain't always a friend,it can be very misleading but we all know that when it comes to junior mining explorers.

steeplejack: One day REM will surprise us perhaps when an investor takes a large minority interest in one of the mining companies it has in its portfolio. In the meantime REM's value will trade at a discount to the aggregated value of its investments because the mining companies are developmental and require substantial funding in order to become producers. The fluctuations in the share prices of its investments will continue as sentiment moves. There are other technologies being developed which may prove to be more attractive than lithium as time moves on.....

Macarthur Minerals Hires Novus for ASX IPO

////

David Taplin, President, CEO and Director of Macarthur Minerals, commented:

“The appointment of Novus Capital is an exciting milestone for commencement of the ASX IPO process for Macarthur’s Australian iron ore and lithium projects. Novus through its Australian broker network will immediately raise A$1 million in Pre-IPO funds in Macarthur Australia Limited followed by an ASX IPO capital raising targeted for Quarter 2, 2017 for up to A$10 million.”

...Of more interest to myself is when will REM start digging?, or aren't they going to?...any ideas?.chicken post 29096
I doubt very much REM will do any digging.But fingers crossed BCN and EMH will get the shovels out and start selling the stuff.........eventually !

In essence,REM is an investment company.It is valued on the market rather like an investment trust in relation to its calculated net asset value.Whilst REM might not derive any income from its interests in BCN or EMH presently,the prospect of doing so is very real.Moreover,REM could realise a capital gain on its holdings if those companies were sold even before they reached revenue generating production.REM is similar to an Anglo Pacific (APF)which takes stakes in mining companies.Anglo Pacific takes stakes in companies and in return negotiates a franchise with those companies which provide an income flow which is distributed to shareholders.I presume you are saying that REM have no such franchise arrangements but it could in future and that will get factored into the share price as must the potential for capital gain on its equity holdings.
