Tesla, Apple, Google and all the largest car manufacturers including BMW, Nissan & Chevrolet are all betting on the electrification of vehicles, using lithium-ion batteries. The recent Volkswagen emissions scandal, with more such scandals expected in other automotive companies, will only put more pressure on vehicle manufacturers to go electric.

It is estimated that there is 200ktpa of advanced stage development capacity that could be brought online by 2020. This is far short of the predicted demand growth, which is likely to be favourable for future lithium prices.

Research forecasts that the energy storage market will grow to more than US$50bn by 2020, split between consumer electronics (US$27bn), transportation (US$21bn), and stationary applications (US$3bn), from US$35bn in 2015, a CAGR of c8%10.

Solar panels on your roof charging up lithium battery's = free central heating and power, its not far off.

I'm hanging on.

So why do people still invest in REM if the outlook is that gloomy.Must be more to it than that. Will the Lithium dream ever materialise or is it just a dangling carrot.

rwauu: All they do is buy into junior miners who need capital to explore and the target company benefits from REM's interest in terms of generating cash and a higher profile which results in a higher share price for the target and a lower one for REM. Its clear that anyone buying REM today is likely to see significant future dilution to pay for operational costs and further investments which can only keep the share price down. When are we going to see some jam? I have to hand it to REM for coming up with numerous ways to obtain cash. The current loan to shares deal is great but not for the shareholders IMO.

Tesla deal they don't have no more. Then just look at megadilutionmagedons!!! Crazy, isn't it??? Oh, and don't forget salaries, bonuses, all that shampagne in Ritz for CeO and chronies.

Great to see REM's investment in Auroch Minerals is already up 60% today. Reminds me of EMH and BCN early days.

Oh dear, once again your expert financial advisor is back!

Once again, would you really take financial advice from a moron who can't string a coherent sentence together?
