25/6/2016 14:58 | I don't really feel we do - investment returns (govt bonds) have been lousy for years. Isn't that it, in spades from yesterday? Will the EU ban any operations originating from Bermuda? That would scupper any chance of US/EU deals. Maybe they should say something, but initial market reaction is no real prompt. And we're only one day into a two-year plus process. | jonwig
25/6/2016 12:56 | Mm, Brexit has done us no failures. We could do with a company statement on /brexit effect on company .... | red ninja
22/6/2016 18:44 | Someone has faith: Phoenix Asset Management rises to 10,125,117 shares (14.05%). Whatever the operational successes, investment returns must be awful! | jonwig
27/4/2016 15:58 | Appears to have broken out of downtrend in place since Q1 2014 which has seen a halving of the share price. | speedsgh
25/4/2016 12:13 | HY - Well done & a great relief I'm sure - they've looked a bit of a basket case for quite some time! | skyship
25/4/2016 10:27 | very,very pleased with this. | hybrasil
25/4/2016 07:16 | Whew! Corner turned? 8.4p pa for the forseeable. 2016 should see a continuation of the Group's return to profitability, though with the usual bias towards the second half of the year. It is expected that book value will increase modestly during the year even after strong cash distributions to shareholders, which will be maintained at current levels, absent unforeseen circumstances. ... We look forward to 2016 and beyond with confidence, having delivered a significant improvement in the financial performance of the Group during the second half of 2015 and through a renewed focus on those core areas of the Group with the greatest growth potential. | jonwig
25/4/2016 06:55 | Digital Look has these forecasts - ............. Revenue .. PBT ....... eps ..... div 2015-12-31 .. £70.61m .. £3.20m .. -10.60p .. 8.40p 2016-12-31 .. £72.90m .. £8.27m ... -2.30p .. 8.40p - which looks rubbish to me. (They list revenue in previous years as comprising only net written premiums, but for the above they include other income. And positive profits translate to negative eps. The "dividend" is probably realistic. The single broker covering it is Numis, with a share price target of 110p. Would suit me for now! | jonwig
20/4/2016 05:34 | Results due next week | hybrasil
05/3/2016 06:25 | I don't really appreciate charts and things, but don't those five lows on the bottom chart follow a lovely straight line? Irrelevant, surely? | jonwig
04/3/2016 23:40 | Except I dont like all this share selling!! | hybrasil
29/2/2016 07:06 | Disposal above book value: It's encouraging that they have a conservative asset valuation policy! | jonwig
24/2/2016 21:45 | big volume today for the first time in ages | hybrasil
15/2/2016 12:44 | If they follow previous form, we should get a Trading Update at end Feb/start March followed by Final Results in Apr (last year's were delayed due to the ongoing arbitration in former Syndicate 102 at the time). | speedsgh
15/2/2016 12:13 | Completed my purchases of these today. Large part of my portfolio now. Will see! | hybrasil
28/1/2016 15:51 | These are now at a nine year or all time low. I have been buying for the capital dividend and I suspect (and hope) that I will be rewarded by quite an increase in the share price. In the meantime I'm getting a 10 per cent return on which I pay capital gains tax as opposed to income tax and let's just say my capital losses are more than sufficient !! | hybrasil
24/11/2015 16:08 | Hybrasil - we both like capital repayment plays - some as per those on the SL thread - a thread for liquidation plays. Best play by far at the moment surely has to be LMS ahead of next month's Tender - see my Post No.50 on the JDT thread: | skyship
24/11/2015 11:21 | initial investment here today. I like the idea that they return capital | hybrasil
11/11/2015 17:07 | from Interim Results (22/9)... "We continue to expect a materially better full year result in 2015 compared with 2014, subject to customary actuarial reviews. Despite a sizeable first half loss, recent positive developments on two large legacy transactions mean we have confidence in delivering a profitable outcome for the full year, which together with stronger expected cash generation to year end, has led to in the maintenance of distributions per share at 3.4p per share." "The Board believes that the prospects for the Group's core operations continue to be attractive. Its traditional run-off and service core look to have profitable opportunities for expansion and our success in these operations is evident. Meanwhile, being chosen as turnkey provider to a potential high profile syndicate start-up should, in the event of securing Lloyd's approval, give both added scale and profile to our managing agency." Make of that what you will. | speedsgh
11/11/2015 16:45 | So whats the outlook here now days ? | my retirement fund
24/9/2015 09:29 | It may take a while to rake up enough cash for the next decent deal. | russman
23/9/2015 09:27 | Possibly, they've been quiet on that front recently. but they do pay cash, so the share price itself isn't a hindrance. | jonwig
23/9/2015 09:04 | I think they need to do another couple of deals. There is lots of cheap junk around - flagging share price does not help. | russman
22/9/2015 20:19 | It was the " Whilst our core operations are performing satisfactorily, slower income development in the US healthcare and legacy broking units and weakness in investment markets are likely to lead to the full year result being below market expectations." bit which I didn't like in the Intrim results. still holding for now maybe all the bad news is in the price, lets just home there are no more nastys to come. 3800 | 3800 |
