It was my 50k "T", I must be mad. Not much movement in the share price?

"T" was being quoted 3.8 for up to 60k around 1pm. On other, you and me both! At face value, TCA deal does seem to have potential to cover requirements.

Anyone got online quotes ?

Assume the 50k trade was a buy, considering no movement on the bid.

Am hoping they pull this Stream thing off SE.... be interesting what funding they have been able to procure for the new venture ( if any of course... ).

Nice article in the Wall Street Journal on Ultra HD and 4k. Looks every bit like it will become the new standard in due course. Stream looks in a good place on pricing too if the info in the earlier article is to be believed.

Yes... lets hope this is only the beginning of something big !

A third of contracts this size is not to be sniffed at.

Lets see the other pieces of the puzzle falling in to place now... next week is going to be some week with the results !

Very nice contracts but clearly the biggest pointer of all for a flow of future revenues is "preferred supplier". Once that status is awarded, TFX will have more certainty over winning further bids. Based on work completed already, I think we have a fair chance of assuming correctly who the client is here and is one of the most massive and the potential value of these things between now and 2020 is enormous.

"T"...just a quickie to say you are indeed onto something. PRM is a large part of what the EU law is all about i.e accessibility for the disabled. As such, it will be the driving force for essential rolling stock upgrades between now and 2020 in order for the ROSCOs to comply.

Consider if you will the number of carriages to be upgraded by the given date and how long it will take to achieve a state of compliance. Given that they also need enough stock to run a railway throughout the upgrade period, the time is looming large that contracts will have to be awarded. It could then reasonably be expected to be a "London buses" situation.

As I recall, it's only one law we're talking about here - for the EU which of course includes the UK. For reference, there's a link, in the DOOH on Public Transport section at the base of the header. Might have to change that sometime because the law is nothing to do with DOOH. Rather, DOOH is another possible string to the TFX/RAM bow in the future if, say, they can persuade the train companies to take a trial of carriage-end LED screens on which, alongside a range of real-time information for passengers, some advertising content could be included via the RV expertise say. Then we would really be talking joined up operations!

....Fully agree on TrainFX and RAM Trains. I'd only suggest a decent level of future hope in that the multi-million pound value of the EU Regulation requirement has not gone away and the timeframe gets ever shorter and will continue to do so. The rail franchise debacle at the back end of the year has not helped at all but it will get sorted and I would expect TFX to be a serious beneficiary when it does. Could then be London buses but we need to see the first one arrive at the bus stop and, you're right, its well overdue....

A very muted response never the less... just shows how far they have fallen off of the radar.

Shame we didn't hold the big increase for a while longer, as it didn't even show on the top gainers list !

Very quiet here too.

The RAM Team has impressed us with its vision and foresight for RAM and we are keen to exploit the many possibilities that the new JV could realise. We anticipate RAM will use our 3D technology on TVs to expand their network even further by introducing the Ultra-D 3D without glasses."

Richard Prosser, CEO of RAM commented:

"The Ultra-D technology is one we expect will become the standard for 3D TVs without glasses. We believe the technology will become dominant in both the consumer and business advertising markets and we are very pleased to be integral in the role out and distribution of the technology throughout the United Kingdom and exploring business channels in Europe and other territories."

Some one got screwed at 2.9p ouch.
I don't think investors see how contracts like these when disclosed will put meat on future rail contracts.
Well we know lots have been happening on the quiet with the digital side and companies want to take a stake in the subsidiary.

TrainFX Update

21 June 2013

RAM announces an update on TrainFX Ltd ('TrainFX"). RAM owns a 30% interest in TrainFX, which specializes in the production of Passenger Information Systems ("PIS"), a statutory requirement for trains rolling stock which is planned to operate after 2020 or is refurbished at any time. Following a lull in the market following the West Coast mainline franchise challenges, the publication of a new timetable for the bids for UK rail franchises means that rolling stock upgrades and new commissions are now being authorised.

As a leading supplier of PIS TrainFX is well placed to benefit from this activity. It has informed RAM that it is has received purchase orders and has been nominated as the preferred supplier and expects to complete contracts with two of its customers for an aggregate of £3,317,000 in the near future.

T - bear in mind that the JV with CETAC 18 months ago has yielded nothing and worse still, and I'm not sure if people realise this yet, but we sold TFX for 500,000GBP in return for 30% of the NEWCO (I stand to be corrected on this one) so any deal for TFX would have to be a very big one to make any difference to us now?

Well someone continues to lack any conviction for RAM to make this a success, as we equal the all time low.

I remain to be convinced, but have hopes for RV and TFX.

Just hope RAM Interactive doesn't become a bottom less pit.

technology will be adopted by RAM in all viable retail and B2B destinations. According to industry research by NPD DisplaySearch, the global market forecasts for shipped 3D screens will be over 65 million units in 2013 and approximately 91 million units in 2014. The UK and European markets will account for 15 million and 20 million respectively. 3D screen penetration is forecast at 80% of total shipped screen (including 2D) units by 2015.

cgod...yes, by 28 Jun as the last working day, although I don't share T's cynicism on this particular occasion. I am of a mind that the wait is a necessary one and I presume is due to finalising the forward funding outlook for the benefit of the auditors' statement and, who knows, maybe that presumption is dependent on them also finalising some other stuff such as the Stream proposition.

Evening T...what's in it for RAM? Lots more than any of us currently realise I suspect and I reckon more than those lines you describe above even from the stuff published thus far.

I share your frustration with the last few months but, equally, I've posted recently what I see as having been a key obstacle to progress i.e. the successful development of production-ready models on which to found a strategy and business model and thereafter seek to get it funded. I think we now have some early signs of having reached this phase.

As you say, they're not a retailer, nor I'm sure do they aspire to be so.

You say "even as some sort of intermediary between Stream and the retailers...". Well, if resellers and distributors are "some sort of intermediary" then yes, I see that as a core aim of the JV but not at all limited to retailers and hopefully with wider scope than merely the UK.

Even insofar as we've been told already about the HoT JV - "...The primary focus is the commercial B2B reseller rights across the UK's Digital out of Home market sector of Stream's glasses free Ultra-D™ 3D technology. The partnership understanding will also seek that the NewCo looks at the wider commercial opportunities of Ultra-D™ across Europe and other territories going forward in its relationship. ..."

It won't be a case of RAM "incorporating Stream technology", rather Pegatron/Hisense will do that (perhaps other licensees too idc) and RAM may purchase this hardware and may utilise it across their RV network in due course. You will see from this that anyone else seeking to do likewise would do so through the JV distribution company so win win.

However, this does not begin to consider the stated B2B market which mainly includes retail (displays not sales), experiential, corporate e.g. conferences and presentations, broadcasters e.g. Sky and BBC & medical.

Beyond this, I guess it could still be on the cards for RAM to directly invest in Stream, just as they have done in RAM, and to be a stakeholder in the licensing-developer of the technology of what might very well turn out to be a new global standard for TV.

I recall that, in one press article a month or so before the RNS, RAM was already described as Stream's reseller. Not will be but is.

So, as I suggest above, as quiet as it has undoubtedly been (apart from the deck-clearing shenanigans), I see a logical theory for that situation but is there actually any evidence of anything happening that would add some substance to thinking this Stream thing is already RAM's, assuming it can now finalise the funding and other matters?

Well, actually, yes! May I suggest Googling "RAM Interactive" (including the inverted commas) plus the word "reseller" and in the first few results you will surely be offered the LinkedIn details of RAM Interactive's VP, Client Services. Rather than limit thinking to only retail sales, take a look at the range of activities, aims and prospects he includes under his present role.

As ever, DYOR.

Afternoon SE... but what really is that slice of the action in terms of RAM ?

They're not a retailer...

Even as some sort of intermediary between Stream and the retailers, what is actually there for RAM ?

Sure they can incorporate Stream's technology, but competitors could utilise the Hisense screens as well I'd presume ?

With no indication of strategy or business model, I'm not entirely sure what role the BOD see RAM playing.

We have been left languishing in this fog of uncertainty and the share price has duly suffered because of it. Very frustrating.
