|Declared wholly unconditional today.
LOGICA2ME - the drop has reflected the percentage of the payout that is in AV. shares. The offer was based on a share price of 646.5 but it has slid with the market - at this moment it is 600.|
|Any news on this one ?
Shareprice dropping a fair bit since the takeover was announced !|
|NJ153: Whilst I didn't actually punt on this one (and, of course, now wish I had) I do think congratulations are in order to you for calling it right and identifying the take-over and the acquisitor yesterday. Good job done.|
|Njl53 thanks for the reply|
|Re AlexLiddy2: The full text of the announcement of the bid says it assumes that all share options will be exefcised so it looks as though they can be exchanged straightaway into the mix of cash and Aviva shares that are going to be offered.. There is of course still the possibility of a rival bid. Aviva expects to have cost savings of £80m a year so it could have scope to raise its offer if that happens. However, The Times warns today that the RAC pension fund deficit is a negative factor for other possible rivals.|
|Im a small time invester so these are out of my league but my wife works for the RAC AND WE PUT £200 a month into share options what happens to them if RAC are taken over|
Aviva would suprise me but given the continuing push from RAC into general insurance (vis the recent Axa deal) then maybe not.
Surely private equity is the more likely source (per the AA)?
A comment on Radio 5 on drivetime (not sure of the merits of this as the Ev. Standard journalist commenting seemed a bit confused between the AA & RAC - he was sincere enough though) suggested that the group may be looking for an offer well in excess of £1bn.
Say a £1.2bn t/out price (20% premium) - would give an share price of 1016p - not sure that venture capitalists or Aviva would stoop to pay this? You never know though - RAC has excellent growth credentials despite the loss of the L/D Paccar contract last yr - it has worked hard to replace this turnover. It also has premium brand names (RAC, BSM, Autowindscreens, Lex).
Oh well, happy either way - nice announcement to see this PM. Just a question of whether to now take the money on offer in the market; hold & hope for a takeover premium; or to hold for benefits long term. Not in any hurry to make a decision on this!
n.b., some very dubious trades in the run up to the jump today - wonder whether they'll be an investigtion?|
|what a fab results today!!! shame i just watched rac not joined!!!|
|AFX says one market rumour is that Aviva is the possible bidder - RAC would be a key strategic move for it at very low cost compared to its own size so £10 looks a plausible starting estimate for an offer.I see other media suggestions that possible bidders could be private equity groups such as Cinven or KKR which both made unsuccessful offers for the AA last year.|
|any views on take out price??|
Unfortunately NO!! To say I tipped this one a long while back lol. But well done to all of you who held. Plenty more opportunities out there so we'll just have to wait for em.
Stay in touch!
|this is 850p sooon!!!imho|
|I don't see the 'shorters' posting here anymore, must have lost a packet?
Arpyd you stayed with this one?|
|results out on 16th feb - should see what they are really about then.|
|here we go again - pinging around 640-650 for last few days, and then for no apparent reason a surge in price to 658. No news, small volume - what drives this behaviour in price.......|
|this share is a pain at the moment. Drops like a stone in the morning, and takes all day to recover on little volume. Encouraging performance at this company, and the fall on back of the Paccar announcement was definately overdone. DYOR but my view is 700p fair value for this at moment.|
still climbing higher|
|.......hope u guys have covered your shorts?????????
Baughfell - 13 Nov'04 - 08:28 - 41 of 59
Seems to have breached support. Fall looks more likely tan a bounce. Opened a December short on Friday target 600p
M.T.Glass - 19 Nov'04 - 10:37 - 42 of 59
And i joined the shorters this week. That September peak might lend some support though, and there has been positive divergemce in rsi this month, so it isn't clearcut. But 200ma has turned negative for the first time in 18 months.|
|with a 44% reduction in loan stock over last published 15 trading days, enough for me to buy in.|
|ok it looks like this one is about to turn around again....|
|I suppose this one will now take a while to get past the 620 mark.|
|Stick in there Arpyd
This will be a good meduim to long term buy for you...the boss at RAC plc is half way through his rebuilding and he wanted £10.00p in 5 years that was almost three years ago....... he's two thirds of the way there...from what i have heard they are on plan for this years forcasted results....only one month left in current year so not long to wait to change the minds of these doubters on this thread of late.|
But look what ways its going? I was in at 618p. I have traded over 50 companies and done pretty good. RAC is my first mistake this year by the looks of it.|
