Truly I believe a 'real' con man never retires, because he cant. Entirely unconnected, of course, we have Mr Shakesby, at 65 a mere five years younger than me, up and jumping into a directorship of the latest, new 'star' company Tarquin Investments.Somebody does comment on his directorship of Toledo Mining and, forlornly, hopes that it might mean BIG things. Strangely, nobody notices that Mr Shakesby is a Director of his own little outfit, called Shakesby Invs Pty. Possibly, beleagured investors in Quiktrak MIGHT divine where their money is going, the part they havent already lost,that is. May I add my congratulations on Mr John Scott's retirement and my relief that he actually exited without someone taking legal proceedings, to retain his services, that is.

Placing and Directors' shareholding

London, 7 February 2005 – The Directors of QuikTrak Networks plc (AIM: QTR)
announce that the Company has successfully completed a private placing to raise
£622,000 (before costs of the placing).
The Company placed 41,466,663 ordinary shares at 1.5p per share and application will now be sought for these shares to be admitted to trading on AIM. Attached to each share placed is one free unlisted warrant, which enables the holder to subscribe for one further ordinary share at 2p per share at any time up to (and including) 9 August 2006.
Pursuant to the placing, the following Directors have subscribed for new ordinary shares in the Company on the same terms as other placees and, following the subscription, are interested in ordinary shares in the Company as set out in the table below.

He knows that for every pound he has put in former share holders have given him a pound as well. A great deal if you can get. I would be happy to invest if I knew I was going to double my investment money.

This thread is hilarious. I used it last week during a talk to illustrate how and why companies can raise money from private investors despite having no demonstrable business. The audience thought I made it up.
