13/7/2004 09:25 | Indeed, although I note several institutions have not been shy to aquire stock when they can! | drw1
13/7/2004 08:44 | Me too...mind you the lack of interest and general under-awareness means that sentiment can only move one way...which is great if you're already in!! | konkel
13/7/2004 08:31 | Added today, always amazes me the lack of interest in this stock! | drw1
12/5/2004 15:46 | Even more attractive now! | drw1
09/5/2004 23:50 | Bloody hell, these look incredibly cheap, the only problem seems to be obtaining them. I only feel comfortable with shares that I know I can generally sell when I want to. I will see how I get on in the morning attempting to get my hands on some, but as I said they are very attractive. | eastbourne1982
09/5/2004 22:17 | Jeff, thanks for the info. I had a strange event last year with QRT stock. I bought some QRT in an online nominee account with iDealing and the deal seemed to go through fine. However, about a week later I had a call from iDealing saying that there had been a big mistake and that I should not have got the deal through as it was a Residual stock. In the end I had to accept an immediate forced sale on favourable terms. I now just hold certifcated stock. My wife has a TDW nominee account, so I might follow your advice and try and buy QRT there next time I top up. MJ | mjcrockett
09/5/2004 19:32 | BFC200 / mjcrockett I have bought in both certificated and nominee form through TDW. In fact I still hold some in my TDW nominee a/c. A couple of times I had problems dealing....told the dealer the epic (qrt) and its a UK co. registered in the US and that seemed to do the trick. Settlement if you sell appears to be T+10, even if you say T+3 I thought Q1 Update was very +ve and look forward to more news at the AGM | jeff h
07/5/2004 18:32 | Thanks battlebus for the info. Do you know why the shares have to be stamped by the revenue in this way? | mjcrockett
07/5/2004 18:16 | Residual shares like that of quarto have first of all to be stamped by the inland revenue before going to be registered, not a great deal of difference other than time involved in settling.Quarto seems to be in demand with Liontrust increasing its stake again.First class share! | battlebus
07/5/2004 10:09 | BCF200, I have had problems trying to buy Quarto shares. I think they are termed 'Residual' shares and I don't think any broker will trade them online. I eventually bought the shares in certificated form through Barclays. I believe that JarvisIM (and perhaps many others?) will also deal in certificated form. I do not know if the company could overcome this difficulty. I believe that QRT would appeal to the UK Retail investor and it would thus boost the share price further. When I have a spare moment, I will write to the company. MJ | mjcrockett
07/5/2004 10:00 | Tried to buy shares thru TDW but could not as they said were UK/ US held and would have to buy as if International shares! Can anyone explain? | bcf200
21/4/2004 15:53 | Just bought in , word has it that a deal is nearly at official stages, who could it be, any ideas? | battlebus
21/4/2004 11:13 | Will of course also benefit from a stronger dollar which is beginning to look like a reasonable bet. | drw1
21/4/2004 10:39 | Yes, today's statement should really have sent the price up a lot higher. QRT went ex-dividend today, so we are still up on the day. MJ | mjcrockett
21/4/2004 09:28 | And still the market fails to value this correctly!Sure value will out in the end! | drw1
13/2/2004 19:43 | Seems almost certain that the third party offer is playing second fiddle to buying into another possibly bigger company which in my view bodes well for shareholders, nice one Laurence, keep it up team. | alwicon
13/2/2004 08:29 | Quick glance at results.This remains a very cheap stock,growing divi,rising earning(even in a difficult trading enviroment),improvin | drw1
12/2/2004 16:43 | No, good results will merely further underline just how stupidly valued this co. is and can only encourage opportunistic bidders! | drw1
12/2/2004 12:50 | Not necessarily. One possibility is that the company will try to use good results to try to fend of Hambros without selling company. This could result in price falling back towards the 130p mark. | mustbefunny
12/2/2004 09:55 | 25% from here easy then | shamster
12/2/2004 09:50 | Results tomorrow and (presumably) an update re-poss. offers for the company.Looks cheap at todays price on forcast profits and divi. yield. | drw1
21/1/2004 18:24 | What time is the alarm clock set for this stock ? Is the alarm clock working ? Is there an alarm clock ? Is there life after death ? Sorry ... just getting carried away | mathisvale
12/12/2003 20:34 | In the 15th October announcement, Hambros promised to layoff with their bid until 18th December as Quarto said there was some interest in the company. So we should get some sort of news next week. Wonder what it will be? " LONDON (AFX) - JO Hambro Capital Management Ltd said it has lifted the Nov 6 closing date for its 132.5 pence a share offer for Quarto Group Inc after the book publisher revealed it is being eyed by a potential third party and is reviewing its options. Quarto said it "has recently been examining - and continues to examine - a broad range of strategic options for the company. "During the course of this review, the board has been made aware of bona fide third party interest in the company and intends to broaden the scope of its review to include fully exploring such third party interest," Quarto said. JO Hambro said it made the decision "to allow the Quarto board a reasonable period of time in which to assess these options and thereby optimise value for the benefit of all Quarto shareholders." JO Hambro said it reserved the right to set a new closing date, with a two-week notice period and no earlier than Dec 18 unless a competing tender offer is made by a third party to gain control of the company without making an identical offer to all Quarto shareholders. Quarto said that its "guiding principle will be the optimisation of shareholder value" and added it has appointed Lazard & Co Ltd as its advisor. Quarto in August advised shareholders to take no action over JO Hambro's bid, saying it was "opportunistic" and undervalued the company. newsdesk@afxnews.com pav/ " | shamster
