Real-Time news about Psion (London Stock Exchange): 0 recent articles
|bookbroker98: Only problem here, as with many other shares outside the FTSE100, is that liquidity in terms of volume has become negligible at this current time. Only time shares outside of majors move is on newsflow or a broker note, makes share price performance all the more moribund.|
|diku: Hope this Sunday Times recommendation gives a boost to the share price and out of this 80-86p trading range..|
|ukinvestor220: does any PON enthusiast here have a link to the share price history i.e. splits; cash back; subsequent change in value of holding due to those since 1999 ??|
Our view: Buy
Share price: 96p (+1p)
The last time Psion popped up on our radar the world economy was mired in recession and leading indicators remained uninspiring. Much has changed since then, and recovery appears in sight. This bodes well for the company, which makes rugged mobile devices for blue-collar workers, helping their employers increase productivity in a range of areas.
The management team has been working hard to strengthen Psion's position in its target markets, and regular updates, including the one posted yesterday, continue to show progress. Cost cuts have make Psion a leaner and meaner beast as well.
The recovery means that we can now turn positive, as the efficiency gains coincide with improving market conditions, opening the door to higher sales and revenues. The shares are not that cheap trading on 15.4 times Singer Capital Markets' current estimates. But this a turnaround story that looks sets to enter its most exciting phase. So buy.|
|she-ra: EssentialInvestor - Well the recent share price weakness we know is not reflective of the company as they have increased their cash to £45 million, have won some major European and American contracts, are seeing their business recover and expect to return to profitibility. The CEO is also target operating profits of 10%.Its a high growth industry where there are little signs that it was flatten out in medium to longterm.
I suspect there has been attempts to weaken the share price of late by people who can see that this healthy company is a good turnaround story and they want to stock up on it.They will also see that Psion is one of the last few big independent rugged handheld technology companies and that Psion is probably a target for much larger companies such as Dell,Nokia,HP,Motorola or Honeywell.
A broker even suggested recently that Psion is a target in an industry witnessing much consolidation and should see a value of 180p.|
|she-ra: Says it all when there is not a commensurate drop in share price to the value of the divi.I think it suggests the only way is up from here on;confidence is building.|
|sakisit: My question would be, if PON made just a slight loss in one year, where would the share price go then, and what are they most likely heading towards, continued significant increase in revenue/profit or a slight loss one year that gets everyone doubting? Indead, will the share price fall on the expectation of that?. IMO the "bouncing about" of the share price over the years will just add to any eventual downturn in the share price and that there is a high risk of investers getting bored, sending the share price down to mad levels even though the company is currently making a profit and trading below asset value. Hence I do not have a holding anymore.|
|mensrea: I applaud the launch of another fantastic device for the Fork Lift Truck driver. Lay down your mugs of tea, roll up your copies of the Sun and get your employers to order a job lot of the latest rugged device rolled out by Psion, the leader in Fork Lift Truck computer accessories. Will the latest device take the share price to £1.60 in the next 6 months? Not IMO.|
|mensrea: fear not, the share price will rally when the fork lift truck becomes the next "must have" item. A fork lift truck without a Psion computer is like apple pie without the cream - just wrong. When the fork lift truck becomes the vehicle of choice for commuters, the share price will soar.|
as I promised my wife not to look at a computer screen while I am on holiday I am going to be short and quick (thats how she describes me anyway )- if this ends abruptly you will know she has come in.
If you look at posts I have made here and on other threads eg WLF you will see that a month or so ago I said I was worried about the market trend and basically that has proved to be right ie the trend has been steeply down recently particularly in smaller cos .
I think it was here in post 62 I said for the forseeable future PON holders should think in relative rather than absolute terms and clearly thats not what you are doing when you say the share price has been "pants" - an expression I presume you borrowed from the FED Chairman Alan Greenspan .
Can I respectfully suggest you go to the Charts section of ADVFN and run the PON share price over say 1 ,2,and 3 months against some relevant indicies eg Mid 250 xIT or IT Hardware and I think you will find PON has massively outperformed in relative terms
You know that advert on the TV for a beer where someone from the company comes along and tells a beer consumer " you are not listeninggggggggggg " - well , please pay attention or you will be sent to stand in the corner
Seriously though don't pay any attention to any of the drivel I post DYOR and make all your own decisions all I express are my biased opinions
got to get to bed now have another long day ahead tomorrow|
