05/3/2017 16:08 | From link above 1st March 2017'Proxama, the specialist proximity marketing company, has received another boost from Innovate UK as it rolls out its beacon networks to provide context-aware, location-based services. This time it is receiving a £0.3m grant as part of a bigger project to design and implement a smart transportation model for the Greater Manchester City region. Other companies involved in developing a proof of concept transport solution are Purple, Movement Strategies, Transport for Greater Manchester and Sustainable Environment Ltd. This is the fourth grant from Innovate UK to Proxama and will be paid out over the next 18 months. Proxama is certainly being active in driving new initiatives for its beacon network (see Proxama ticks off one of its New Year resolutions), but there is still a long way to go before the company can drive significant revenue and margin. There is even progress in the company’s payments business. Nevertheless, life would almost certainly be easier if the management team could agree the sale of the payments side so that they can concentrate on realising the potential tantalisingly residing in the proximity marketing business.' | hazl | |
