wholden - hi, I think Von is in here, but not me. I like the sound of the company, but dare I say that a PE of over 20 is a bit rich for me, in this climate. For the longer term, no worries, but in terms of the upcoming results, maybe it has been priced in. The reason I don't buy now is because I am wary of the very uncertain, and potentially disruptive, events that are going on in the economy and particularly in tech/telecoms companies. Having said that, this seems like a safe haven, but I am sticking to lower PE stocks at the moment, just as a precaution. I think you may see a few buyers nibbling away at PJT as the results approach, but most are probably wary of the bigger picture at present, and are perhaps limiting their exposure. With the Blackberry deal, it seems that continued growth is a good bet for the Interims. I remain on the sidelines for now.... Taurus

Von,

Thanks for that. I wouldn't have thought a company would use the word "significantly" unless it was at least 20-25 per cent above expected. So suppose that they come in with full year eps at 3.5p then that would put the shares on a historic PE of 22 at today's price, and assuming 30 per cent growth, a forward PE in the mid-teens. But there is no knowing how much "significant" means (on the upside), so the figures could be better than that.

Anyway, I'll keep watching. Sounds good for the longer term.

Taurus,
According to the Citywire report on 30th Nov (the day of the update) "analysts had been expecting pre-tax profits of £9.6 million and earnings per share of 2.86p for the full year to December. Project Telecom said the strong first-half performance in its corporate services division had continued into the second half, and that with current trading, it looks likely to beat consensus figures by some way."
Hope this helps,
Von.

Well, the share price is now 77p against about 60p when the "significantly exceed expectations" was announced. Does anyone know what the expected eps was before that announcement? The price has held up well against the renewed tech savaging, but without some numbers as guidance I wouldn't chance this one. But then there is that word "significantly"....

Results date announced as 27th Feb 2002. Looks like a few people buying today ahead of these figures which are said to exceed market expectations.

Anyone have any short term price targets for the run up to results?

I just hope I've read it right and its not going to be a case of the results are in the price, happened recently with me and EBQ. Knew great results were due, when they came price didn't move, sold the stock then 2 weeks later price rose 10%....woftm...lw

Taurus,
Good points, well made. I guess with me it comes down to the fact that I'm impressed with how the company has performed. I'm actually happy to hold and find that even in this market I can sleep at night holding their shares. I'm waiting to see just how much they do beat expectations by in Feb and will re evaluate my position on the stock then.

Vonbrokenburger,

So then you look at the current and forward PE, and if PJT produce, say, 11 million quid this time that would put them on an undemanding 15'ish (excuse my figures - haven't checked them recently), which would seem very reasonable, you would think. But with telecoms in such a mess, it is hard to predict what the market considers "good value" in this sector.

With regard to lack of posters, that could be double-edged. Refreshing lack of rampers could also mean that no-one is interested in buying the shares, so it works both ways.

I suspect there may be more interest closer to the results, when the risk of nasty surprises from America has reduced, with the coming results and foreward visibility (or lack of it) digested.

Taurus,
I do understand where you're coming from these are dodgy times but I am reassured both by the fact that they are profitable and perhaps more importantly theres so little bb talk about them. Both this board and iii's are practically empty most of the time. It gets dull but does indicate they're at this level without the need for dozens of rampers.

20 day momentum indicator heading up towards the zero line and MACD buy signal generated. Each time this has happened in the past 6 months we have seen very healthy rises....

Vonbrokenburger,

Thanks. I think people are justifiably jittery about the word "telecom". I am always attracted to a stock that uses the words "significantly exceed" in relation to expected results, but the trouble was that this one jumped 30-odd per cent on the news! No contribution from the Blackberry deal coming through in these results, and so I would say that the share price in the next few weeks is dependant on the general market conditions as much as anything, but with relative stability I could see these hitting a quid after the results. I think many are wary of a pullback in America. Short-termist, I know, but can't afford to be anything else in these crazy times!

littlewillie,
Totally agree its always the way. They'll start telling us when its gone high enough and we should all take profits and everything. Then they'll all disappear again and we'll probably still be holding but at a much higher level.

Hi Von, seems most of the time its just you and me holding stock. Within the next 30 days imo this site will be worn out by guys saying how long they've been in PJT and how they knew it was a good 'un.
The good news about to burst is not yet in the price, waiting confidently..lw

Taurus,
Sorry about the 5p spread but you can trade within it so in reality its only about 3.5p to 4p which isn't so bad on a 75p stock.
Don't think you need to worry about fundraising though, not with 7.7 million in the bank as of end June and trading statements since then to state that the upcoming results are likely to greatly exceed market expectations.
I've pasted their last comments from the results incase you still have worries about this little gem..........

The spread on this sucks! And with companies proposing fundraising right, left and centre (today IMS), this still seems a risk too far. But if it came back below 70p......

Lw - agreed, buying in the 70's looks good now. Even if the co decides to raise cash on the back of strong results institutional investors will want a decent premium on the original 70 float price. Still some short term risk from wider telco sentiment tho.

Vonbrocken...I agree with your projections which are pretty much in line with how I see it, only just returned to these shores but understand there's been some good press, I think the price may well keep growing, we know excellent results are on the way.
Isitsafe, we both want the same thing as you are a holder and I understand your caution but think you'll find that you're pessimistic.

Stockinsider,
I had a look at ATU but they have too much debt for my liking. I see they think they'll do ok selling their baths but any problems and they're bankrupt. Good luck with them but I don't see a 4-5 bagger there.
IMHO,
Von
