I have absolutely no problem with someone having a different opinion on something, the company has 1000 employees and the effects of Brexit are definitely worth discussing. Fivedays objectives, i suspect, are not particularly concerned with debating the company. Don't have any real issue with what he's doing as long as people are aware of what's going on.

fivedays - New poster, four posts on PIL with a negative bias, could be a paid 'basher'. Wonder why someone would want to pay a basher? Doubt you would be short a stock like this, more likely someone who wants to encourage sellers. I wonder why?

Oh and I think Brexit will take a long time if ever before there's a shortage of a ready workforce, more scaremongering imv.

Why don't you tell us why you think the directors resigned as you seem to know a lot about the boardroom, and why you seem hell bent on running this co down. All I can go on is the track record here and the results and improved divi each year which makes me confident for the future. DYOR ETC

A laugh a minute topvest, no bid is coming. What's not knowledge are the reasons behind a chairman and an FD resigning at the same time. I'd pose the question, is this concurrent with a healthy boardroom?? I think not.
Everyone needs to think why the market seems hell bent on keeping the stock on a very low multiple.
Triggering article 50 now disclosed as March 2017 will pummel this stock as already mentioned in the report foreign workers make up 95% of employees who work long hours for minimum wages. Replicate that with British workers and margins and profits will be slashed.
Much safer stocks around.

Well I've doubled-up. It's a good company. I do also wonder whether a bid is on the way from the outgoing Chairman (and Finance Director). Maybe they are thinking of an MBO as the Chairman has 22% or so of the company anyway. There is no real reason for their departure and it seems amicable. New Chairman will make £1m if the bid comes in next year.
Even if there is no bid this is a robust company with good cash flow. Cheap!

Produce is not for the faint of heart. Lots of volatility from (1) weather (2)competition (3)pricing (4)buyer power (5)single crop typeOne year could be 49p EPS I reckon if everything goes their way, the next sub 10p EPS. You either gold very long term or find moments of weakness.

Investec have a £2 target so it'll be interesting to see if they upgrade that again.

PIL are very cheap. Excluding exceptionals (and they exceptional), EPS on a full tax charge comes out at 26.6p fully diluted, so they are trading at 5.6 times earnings, yielding more than 5%. I think management have done all the right things, they are paying down debt and i think it looks very interesting medium term.It reminds me a bit of FIF five years ago and that turned out pretty well.

Agreed; spuds and daffs aren't going to attract a big multiple, but track record and agreements with majors count for a lot - as does the >£35m in net tangibles.

Happy with those results..Key Financial Points:

- Operating profit for the year increased to £9.21m (2015: £8.04m) driven primarily by more stable retail market conditions

- Increase in full year dividend to 7.32p (2015: 7.165p) reflecting the Board's confidence in the outlook

- Reduction in net debt to £18.1m at year end (2015: £20.7m)

Not sure that matters, the sector has always been under pressure and those shares have all more or less doubled over the last couple of years. So basically i don't know what point you are making that is directly related to investment in these sorts of companies.
