PCI - Petroceltic - the stock to watch.

PCI is going to be the stock of the year. Best you get on board before they announce their oil drilling results in Tunisia. Currently 15p and they believe there is 400 million barrels of light crude down there.

PCI - Petroceltic - watch this space.

ALAN SMITH SIGNS FOR MANCHESTER UNITED

Manchester United confirms the completion of the transfer of the registration of
Alan Smith from Leeds United Football Club to Manchester United Football Club.
The player has signed a contract until 30 June 2009.

The total consideration for this transfer is £7.05m (£6.0m payable to Leeds,
£0.3m levy payable to the FA Premier League and £0.75m fees payable to the agent
in relation to both the acquisition of the player and negotiation of his five
year contract). The fee to Leeds is payable immediately and of the agents fee,
£0.25m is payable immediately, with the balance payable in equal annual
instalments over the duration of the player's contract.

Thanks for the two links. My broker is adamant that PAS only get a percentage of their players' salaries and NOT a percentage of transfer fees. The good news about such an arrangement is that PAS do not suffer from the 'peaks and troughs' of infrequent transfer deals and instead have a steady flow of ongoing income spread over the life of the players under contract to them. I believe they are on 5% and so if Rooney does sign with Everton on a five year contract at £12.5m, PAS will be due £625k.

Rooney's a sure thing

PROACTIVE SPORTS, which advises footballers, is set for a big payday from 18-year-old Wayne Rooney.

It will either take a cut from a massive transfer fee or be paid for contract talks at current club Everton.

Shares, which hit 9.125p before England was knocked out of Euro 2004, rose 0.125p to 8 yesterday.

Big jump in the share price this morning, up from 7.75p bid to 8.5p bid, on no news other than the press comment on Rooney staying at Everton. Only 1,500 shares traded at 8.5p so, is there an announcement about to break that the mm's have got wind of?

Proactive's open goal over Rooney
Robert Lea, Evening Standard
6 July 2004

WAYNE Rooney could go to Manchester United for £30m - or he may not. But it is how agent Proactive Sports manages the Everton player's future in the near term which could make or break the reputation of the quoted footballer-adviser business, its chief executive warned today.

Proactive is likely to be in the money whatever the immediate future of the 18-year-old, whether that is a cut of a massive transfer fee or its payment for negotiations to keep him on Merseyside in a deal which is apparently on the table and worth £10m over five years to the player.

'Wayne is a very exciting client and whatever he decides will be icing on the cake for us,' said Proactive chief executive Neil Rodford.

Rodford declined to comment on Rooney's future but said his name alone is good for group business which, on top of player representation, includes wealth management and legal advice to stars.

'You'd be disappointed if it was not good for business in the long term though it could be a double-edged sword if it [the relationship] does not work out.'

Shares in the group hit a two-year peak of 9 1/8p at the height of Rooney-mania, before England were knocked out of Euro 2004, against a low of 2 7/8p last year, having floated at 25p in 2001.

Proactive, soon to be called Formation Group, has made its first step into sports marketing on the Continent, buying a small Scandinavian stadium perimeter advertising business.
