Kyrgyz President Almazbek Atambaev has said Kyrgyzstan will join the Customs Union, which now comprises Russia, Kazakhstan, and Belarus, by the end of the year.

The Customs Union is a precursor of the Eurasian Economic Union, which is scheduled to start functioning on January 1.

Kyrgyz Prime Minister Joomart Otorbaev said on November 21 that his country's accession to the Eurasian Economic Union will be discussed on December 23.

Kyrgyz budget receives 124 mln soms from sale of mining licenses

In Kyrgyzstan 124 million soms were transferred to the national budget from sale of licenses for mining. It is reported by the State Agency for Geology and Mineral Resources.

According to the data, since November 2013 there conducted auctions at 12 subsoil sites successfully. As a result the donation from sale of licensing documents totaled 124 million soms, which is 2.5 times higher than in the same period last year.

Itar-Tass has reported Kyrgyzstan could potentially receive $1 billion in cash and loans as part of the deal, noting Russia will guarantee Kyrgyzstan will receive money for agriculture, construction, mining, textiles, and other projects, in the form of an estimated $500 million in capital and a minimum of $500 million in loans.

at some point the gov't will have to realize that to generate new income for the country (and pay off the massive debt) the mining potential of the country will need to be exploited, which means letting the miners back in...
They could let the small miners resume and keep their lawyers on the big majors (whose claims they can't afford to pay, or stonewalling as it's called).

the gold processing plant is a good sign at least.
