I counted the word 'challenging' three times in that first statement. Positioning for a worse second half I think. Out at 74p taking a small loss.

I have been following this all the way from 10p and I do not read the announcement in that way at all

Trading appears good with volume and pricing weaknesses offset by operational improvements

This is on a low trading multiple and therefore is of value in my analysis all the way to 110

Well that's how it reads to me, 'Softness' / 'Broadly' in line. Staying on the watchlist until the 8 month downtrend is broken

Would second that - effectively they are saying they are trading in line and would be ahead if market conditions were better.

Agree shakeypremis, a little disappointing. However, the valuation is modest and they seemed to hint they were trading in-line with last years figures. One for a little patience as decent divi and uncomplicated unfashionable business which should give return over time.

IMHO Rigger it was a punt to get the company on the cheap. I didn't draw too much into it - after all if they hadn't of rated the long term prospects they wouldn't have bid.

Just looking in here, the big red flag for me was when the board were prepared to enter discussions however short lived, last year. It looked an undervalued stink bid then and made me think time to move on, that there was not much short term promise. Just put a cap on things, so I got out.

Look in and ought to feel tempted but global markets keep me away more than anything. That bid should have been rejected immediately, just suggested a lack of ambition.
