Steinhoff have been quiet of late with any notifications....

Suspect they will announce buying out one of the other major holders and having to pay the same to the rest of the holders. Also suspect management will reject any offer.. So will need to be against the recommendation of directors... But will come

they might send their brokers in to the market to increase their stake to 29.99% prior to announcing a bid.the crucial moment for shareholders will be if a 220p offer is turned down by the board do we get out or hang on for higher offer. lets hope its a nice problem we have.

I'm hoping they don't leave it until the very last minute. Surely they know now if they are bidding or not & at what price

your stop loss that got triggered at 174p on that recent spike down, almost looks like it was aimed for, as they shifted the price right back up

After the 4:30pm close tomorrow I reckon - that`s if it happens.

They`d sit on them I would have thought . It`s a drop in the ocean for a company of their size.

If they dont make an offer, they will have a load of shares to get rid of

How will that work in reality?

looks like we're going down to the final day - anyone think they'll wait until 4.29pm to make the announcement too, or do you think we'll see one at 7am tomorrow?

re neil, and bryce... true, they missed all the recent market stock deals, have it down on some great short term stocks... and doggedly pump their personal fav's..

I remember Alphaville reporting that BWIN Partygaming takeover had fallen apart. Share dived. Takeover followed.

So, what’s the opposite of luxury goods? Poundland, perhaps.

Lots of reports around that Steinhoff is preparing to bid — which is a bit of a state-the-obvious story as it’s facing a PUSU deadline and hasn’t yet said it won’t bid.

The Sunday Telegraph take is as good as any:

Noise around this suggesting folk would be unwise to assume the offer of 230p or thereabouts that was predicted pre Brexit.

BE
I’d just read that as advisable caution rather than anything more informed.

sb, it`s a strange one. That sale was on friday. They also dumped 190,000 on thursday.

They still hold 14 milliion though.

I'm expecting £2.40...

No bid, we will need to hope they turn around their performance which is very doable. With Brexit people will be watching the pennies more than ever

People have been caught out by the authorities doing it before.

Collectively with broker and newspaper comments it does have an impact.

I'm always surprised by the way some posters believe that a post / series of posts on here can affect the share price.

Maybe, possibly maybe on a micro cap if there is a rumour of news, but on anything over £50mln the number of people on here simply isn't enough to make an impact.
