Unfortunately, the Bristol site appeal has been dismissed by the Planning Inspectorate. See
There is a PDF doc to open with details of why the appeal was dismissed. Too big to post here.

maybe we can suggest to the powers that be, that devon, having voted the way they have, should sit in the dark and cold in midwinter should power be required..see how they like those apples..

There is always going to be opposition to sites in urban areas, Bristol being another. Incidentally, that appeal decision is due back from the Planning Inspectorate pretty soon. Hopefully, that will be a positive outcome.

Why would you create a new account just to flag up some planning objections buried deep on a council website just because a mate asked you to?
Model is sound hence planning passed for 7 of these sites already!

For balance it is worth looking at the thorough planning plans by plutus as well . These applications are always going to be opposed and arguments found to counter a development such as that proposed . It will be down to the council to determine whether it is a merited proposal.

A friend who lives in Devon has asked me to flag up one of Plutus' planning applications that he believes has come off the rails and reflects very badly on the company's processes. I'll leave it for you to look for yourselves and decide. Google: "EDDC 17/1221/FUL" . If you click on the documents tab, the pdf.s from Richard Buxton Lawyers and Hawkchurch action group show what all the fuss is about.

I wonder what the share price will be when the 5 sites currently under construction are connected to the National Grid? Any thoughts on that anyone?

I very much doubt there will be any comment on this. Plutus are financially robust and steaming ahead.

Interesting to note, from OFGEMs decision letter, that

"We understand that knowledge of the Authority’s decision is likely to impact on stakeholder’s investment decisions in relation to the Financial Commitment Milestone (FCM) of 22 June 2017 for the 2015 Capacity Auction. We are publishing this letter following the Authority meeting in order to assist stakeholders with their decision-making."

There are 22 units due to make financial commitments by tomorrow, to comply with their CM 2015 obligations. Failure to do so leads to termination of the contract. It will be interesting to see how many of those 22 meet the requirement, and how many choose to drop out and accept the penalties.

not a red herring exactly but things have moved on since March as they refocus their energy (gettit?!) on other revenue streams. Triad still full in place this winter; we can probably assume around £25 for winter 19/20. To be absolutely honest I always thought TRIAD was an odd subsidy. The current chaotic government will know that it would be a complete disaster politically for the lights to go out anywhere this winter so I fully expect Plutus to be right at the forefront of back up power. Well funded and well run, it can be an essential part of the energy mix

What is not clear is how the payments will taper off from the current £47 per KW to the proposed £3 - £7 per KW in 2021. I guess those changes and modifications will be published shortly.

As per last RNS any payment above zero will bolster the business. This winter will probably see 6/7 sites attracting full Triad payments amounting to around £900K per site. By 2021 this will be reduced to around £140K if my calcs are correct. Given 15 year capacity contracts and increasing revenue from other sources the company is flexible enough and innovative enough to build and prosper with these reduced payments. The area I am finding very interesting is reactive power sales. In the last RNS they said that on 17th May power prices peaked at £1,500 per MW hour . By being ready to switch on in seconds they can build huge revenues through this. So not just a winter company!! 100mw of sites ( 5 sites) are being built right now. 6 sites should be up and running this winter and possibly more.

Well at least the reduction will be made over the coming three years. But we need to hear from the company to asses the full impact and what it will mean to the bottom line.

The Triad payments will be reduced to between £3/kW and £7/kW over three years from 2018-21.

Ofgem confirms deep cuts to Triad payment

Ofgem has confirmed that it will implement steep cuts to small generators’ Triad payments. The regulator suggested its move would save consumers billions in the longer term.

The changes come as part of a larger overhaul of network charging. Ofgem’s review of embedded benefits – the rates of charges and rewards for distribution connected generators – found that one benefit in particular was distorting the market and affecting other policies, chiefly the capacity mechanism.

The so-called demand TNUoS residual (or Triad payment), meant smaller generators could earn £45/kW by exporting at times of system stress. Ofgem said that figure would rise to £70/kW by 2020/21. With that increasing revenue stream ‘banked’, small generators could bid low in the capacity market, undercutting other forms of generation, such as large new thermal gas plant.

Ofgem originally planned to take the Triad payment down to less than £2/kW. The regulator said following consultation with industry, it will take it to between £3/kW and £7/kW over three years from 2018-21.

Cutting the Triad payment will likely increase the outturn of the capacity market. That may lead to some large new gas plants being built, but may also provide a windfall for the UK’s existing fleet of large thermal generators.

Small generators with capacity market contracts secured in 2014 and 2015, before the charging review was announced, and whose revenues will be significantly lower than they anticipated when bidding, will now consider their options.

How will that announcement made today affect PPG?. As it looks like the reduction of 3 to 7 GBP wont actually impact revenues by much. They will still be getting at least 40GBP/KW.
