A Haunting in Venice 4/10. Worst of the Poirots with Kenneth Branagh - and the first two weren't all that good.

Alternatively, the biggest gathering of self satisfied and plumped up egoists you'd ever have the misfortune of coming across.

hard not to be a bit emotional at the marathon. The sheer scale of human endeavour, the endless sea of other people going past on one of the biggest days of their lives. The product of so much work and sweat and learning. The money raised for tens of thousands of personal causes

LOL! I'm with her though, in accordance with the 'love it or loathe it' rule, Mrs J loves the stuff.

I have just introduced the Miss World type to the delights of Marmite.

It went down about as well as jeffian's Filet o'Fish.

"I think the kind of person that goes into politics has an extraordinary sense that they’re going to be luckier than others and that fortunes are going to turn their way.“

My point exactly.

But it is only the Tories because they are (theoretically) 'in power'. The same is true of Labour, as we will see after the election (remember the Labour Minister picked up for trying to get a rent boy? Or what about LibDem leaders who upset the boyfriend so much that he organised his dog to be shot or somesuch. Charges? Oooh, no.)

Another day, another bid. Over the past 18 months or so 4 or 5 or my largest holdings have all been subject to bids. Nice in a way, of course, but a bummer to try to find new homes for the proceeds.

Mornin'all.

#8316 et seq,

As said many times before, the problem is that Central Office picks these oddballs from a pool of aspiring politicians who have done nothing but come up through the ranks of uni, local politics, SPADs etc, and imposed them on constituencies, often without the candidate having much knowledge of the area or the people he is supposed to represent. It's time for constituencies to choose their own candidates who actually know and represent the area and the opinions of voters.

M`Icke is the biggest wet wipe, responsible for dreadfully clogged sewers , a ban from Yorkshire Water is coming soon, after which it`s back to the old chemical thunder box.
