Red,

Same feeling here. I think will soon be back to nearer the £. Just a feeling of course. With my luck sterling will probably appreciate massively against aud.

A,

Maybe there is somthing bigger afoot, on Wednesday night trades were over 13 million and last night 7 million shares were traded.

However, I'd put my money on the bullish pallidum and platinum prices.

Plus it appears PLA was tipped in the Australian Financial Review.

Still I'm more hopeful foe PLA with the new JIC contractor. Hopefully 2011 will be PLA's year....

Hi there. I think that we are seeing re valuation fo the company becuase we missed out on a lot action. Its timely. i would also not discount that something bigger is afoot. Note the impact on share price since new contractors were appointed. My feel good factor has returned to this share price Onwards and upwards.

I believe the Platinum/Palladium price run is the main factor.

However, any good news on Kalplats, Smokey Hills or Rooderand could provide a boost...

Other than that Palladium/platinum pricing is strong :-

JANUARY 13, 2011, 2:46 A.M. ET.PRECIOUS METALS: Gold Down As Palladium Hits 10-Year High
By James Campbell
Of DOW JONES NEWSWIRES
SINGAPORE (Dow Jones)--Gold and silver were slightly down in Asia Thursday, while palladium continued a strong run.

Despite bullish price action in other commodities including crude oil, gold and silver are struggling to join the party, with economic optimism and periodic bouts of dollar strength undermining sentiment.

"Gold really needs to get back above $1,400 to shake off this corrective move," Triland Metals in a note.

At 0645 GMT, spot gold was at $1,385.20 a troy ounce, down $2.80 since Wednesday's New York close. Tokyo Commodity Exchange December 2011 gold was at Y3,715/gram, up Y3.

Spot silver was at $29.54/oz, down 11 cents, after failing to breach resistance at $29.70/oz despite repeated attempts.

Spot palladium continued a strong week, trading up $3 at $812/oz, just off a $814.50/oz intraday high, its highest level since March 2001.

MKS Finance said in a report that the metal is likely to keep gaining for the rest of the year, with a spike to $1,100/oz possible.

"Supply disruptions from Russia and more marginally from South Africa, and lower-than-expected available stockpiles, are likely to drive palladium higher," it said.

It noted that exchange traded fund buying is having a significant impact on the market's balance.

According to Mitsui Global Precious Metals, 530,000 ounces, or around 9% of global annual mine supply based on last year's figures, has been added by ETFs since Oct. 1.

Spot platinum was giving back some gains at $1,794/oz, down $7, in line with weakness in base metals.

We're up about 30% in a few days. Has anybody found any particular reason why? I think they may have been tipping in Australia, but I haven't found anything solid.

Mmm looks like they still sold 13.6 million of the retail offer. Was that mainly to the existing institutional shareholders I wonder.

Half thought about buying some more last night, but I have enough really.

On the retail news the share price has recovered to the 56c level. I wouldn't be suprised if it gets back to 59c (the institution placement) level before Christmas...

Having bought at 56c and 52c.

I took a chance last night and bought more at 47c and 47.5c.

Pretty pleased this morning to see things moving forward with the new contractor laying off the strikers and rerecruiting.
So far so good the new contractor appears to have the right attitude

Now hopefully will Rainbow give the go ahead to Kalhari.

Red,

What is your feeling on this one?

Past experience tells me we will continue to struggle but my emotions tell me to hang in there and not to "formalise" my paper loss?!

Well it looks like all the problems of Red Path are not all resolved, but a cheaper entry point for any body who was thinking of taking up rights and still has the stomach for it.

Red,

Do you mean WTN? If PLAA can perform anything like WTN has in the past few months, I will be delighted!

Mmm It seems to me that PLA can still succeed so I'm going to give them one more go.

I can recall Western Canadian Coal that had problems in the early days of mining, but in the end they pulled it together.

I can also recall other miners who disappointed and disappointed.

At the moment I'm inclined to hope PLA is a Western Canadian Coal type.

Sg31,

I deal in some Oz stocks and they charge you a comission/spread for £ to Oz$ that seems work out at somthing around 1.5%, but check with them for the exact figure.

You can hold cash in Oz$ in an ordinary trading account, but not in an ISA.

Last night you could buy on the market below 56c, looks like the under writers are not supporting the market price, so may be worth buying directly from the market.

Anyway, it has just fallen to the stage where you can buy at 56c...

AIUI you won't have to pay dealing fees if you buy in the RO.I'm with TDW does anyone klnow how they deal with the currency conversion £ to A$.

I'm still undecided on whether or not to take up the offer. It would lower my average price but I can't decide if it's just throwing good money after bad,

Apavolic,

I thought it would stay above the institution price at 59c, maybe in the low 60s, but at the moment it seems to be staying just above the retail offer at 56c.

See TD Waterhouse have put the entitlement offer against my PLA holding, but they say they are clarifying that UK based holders can buy.

Anyway, it has just fallen to the stage where you can buy at 56c...
