Fair point Mikey, however the techies on iii(@mple) don't seem to agree with you, certainly if you are short you are doing better than I am.

This lot are behind the curve. Old technology thought processes in action. Classic case of emotion driving a business that should be abandoned or re-invented.

PLM should talk to Accenture pronto. The new green datacenter initiative could be of use to both sides.

hope so, it would be a rational response in the current irrational times and might indicate there is a modicum of sense out there :-)

beloved Synchronica?

LOL. I have a small spreadbet there. And yes it is struggling but but but..I see a future there. I understand nerdy gateways and what they do. Equally I understand the products this crowd make. I just don't see a future for them - optical disks? 60G ? One company makes products with a throughput in excess of 40Gbps. Lambda routers are pretty nifty

"10 Terabits (trillion bits) per second of total switching capacity"

And that was back in 1999...

So 60G of storage or 600G is not that impressive.

Apart from my 250,000 shares that i have bought I have now built up a short position from 7p downwards of 600,000 shares thru spreads and cfds - when i come out of my short at circa 2p I'll then help the recovery to north of 10p i hope.....................

....I didn't choose the thread title! Can I suggest that your last comment could equally be applied to your beloved Synchronica? It's a bear market - almost everything is down.

In fact how good UDO is, is frankly a bit of a nerdy discussion.

hmmm....I thought it was quite important regardless of how nerdy it might be, it is even the main topic in the thread title.

Never mind, 2.5p here we come eh?

With sentiment the way it is for all stocks this may go lower. It is impossible to guess how much lower, but this is not destined to go bust. Murphy et al have not had to restructure because of the downturn, they started over a year ago and as a result the company is much better placed than some to weather the storm. The cash resources are more than sufficient to get the company through. Murphy has been able to rip out the best sales and marketing people from other industry players with the intent of being a solutions provider. The UDO stuff is a good conversation opener for selling, but it is not the complete solution by any means. In fact how good UDO is, is frankly a bit of a nerdy discussion.

However grim things are with banks, builders etc., PLM is in a growing market and will prosper, but it just might take a bumpy ride for the shares to come good.

Who would buy a long term storage solution from a company that will not be around in 3 years time. Now where did I put my polaroid camera? Ah, there it is next to my betamax video recorder.

Gosh....rerating due. Forget the 4.5p of previous days, 2.5p on the cards.

Blu-ray are simply not enterprise-class

Can you clarify what you understand by enterprise class please. Thanks.

TimTom - Interesting information re US fund. Where did you get it?

Still can't find a propr list of 3%+ holders. One US fund has cleared out but they held piddling amounts - a low few 100K shares. It may account for the extra weakness as the last few K of their holdings have been looking for home and no one wants them currently.
