Sounds good, but clearly if the government is seeking to allow people to send in a selfie for FREE that is surely going to be much more convenient.

I think this new selfie process will be for passport renewals only. But with renewals every 10 years that has to be the majority of the passport photo business.

And then if it goes ahead, how long before adopting this for other forms of photo ID

How much of a threat will this be to PHTM ?

Thanks for the link spob. I think Ireland has been at it for a few years.

PHTM is working on a process that will submit the photo and e-signatures with the application straight from the booth.

Telegraph:

9th dec 2016

Gabriel Pirona, chief finance officer at the UK-listed company, said Photo-Me, which operates photo booths and laundrettes around the world, was working with the Home Office to enable its existing booths to digitally send passport photos and e-signatures directly to the authorities.

“You go to the booth, take the photo, sign, and enter your application number and that gets transmitted through to the Home Office,” said Mr Pirona.

Photo-Me will begin testing the technology in Britain in January. It has already signed a memorandum of understanding with the Irish Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the same service and Holland and Belgium have also expressed an interest.

In France, Photo-Me's booths already allow users to send their photos and signatures directly to the country's driving licence agency for applications.

There was a discussion in the House of Lords today about passport photos

Lord Harris of Harringey said the government is seeking to arrange that people be allowed to send a selfie direct to the passport office for approval

Not sure if that will ever be implemented but would obviously be a hit to PHTM

Especially if that was extended to all other forms of photo ID

Technology has moved on I guess

Perhaps all photo booths will become a distant memory of the past

Apparently some other countries already allow people to submit their own photos

A friend of mine has just had to renew his passport. It would appear that the default option on the UK government website is now to upload a digital photo.

Does anyone know if the photo-booths are yet to provide an option to email you the photo rather than just print it out?

One annoying thing when Trading is when selling, this morning ,no quote is available and you have to leave the order under ' pending ' This is slightly unsettling when dealing.

It did do well relatively in 2003 but only from a very low low (a rise of something like 15 up to 150).

The highest high shown on Google Finance was 735 in the week of 14 Jan 2000. So we've got some way to go yet!

Correct, eeza; though possibly worth noting that was a price achieved intra-day. The highest closing price was 182.5p the day before.

Certainly looking good to attack those levels now.

Yep I remember it now being the second highest performer on the stock exchange in 2003 the recovery after the dot com. But an annual chart would have confirmed aswell.

cheers.

Cant see how it was higher in the last 6 months unless advfn chart is wrong.

Wrong. Not all time high, nowhere near, and it was higher than this in the last 6 months. Good news though all the same.
