Interesting debate Daz/ Mallorca. I've also sold today as I feel the oil price spike over the last few days may catch a few people out as will the 2015 earnings.

The thing playing on my mind was in the footnotes section of the recent update when oil was approx $80 a barrel (correct me if i'm wrong on the $80 as I'm going from memory here..)

"The impact on IES net profit for 2015 is expected to be around US$45 million based on the current 2015 forward curve for oil price (approximately US$2 million for every US$1 increase or decrease in oil price)."

Why do you say overvalued Mallorca? The estimates are for earnings of 92p in 2015, granted these will come down by some degree as most were made late November but given the companies prominent position in their field, it makes them look cheap rather than overvalued.

I do accept their maybe a pullback following the current spike though.

should see 8 quid next week if oil price remains above 50. I have never seen such carnage in the UK mid cap sector. Looks like total capitulation by institutions who are so afraid to see red on their screen that they have dumped all of their small and mid caps. The latter are now incredibly cheap.

Petrofac:

Petrofac is up 12% in the past week after winning a $4bn contract with the Kuwaiti state oil company. But that only goes a small way to reverse years of share price falls, which have driven the yield up to 6%.

The oil services sector has been hammered by falling crude prices, but if you reckon the price drop has been overdone, Petrofac could look tempting.

"On the chart I think it could go as low as £4 but will it?"

Well obviously it 'could' but that's the 2008 low.... things as bad as that now ?

I just drew a trendline from 2005 and if you exclude 08/09 as 'outliers' (or once in a generation events) then price should be up at £14 or so currently !!

As for div sustainability... well it's always been well covered so there is plenty of fat to pay from....so for one year it might be maintained, but if oil stays this low for all of 2015, then 2016 will be a different story.

Oh, and a far few gaps to fill up there as well !

Any views as to whether the dividend is sustainable? If it can at least be held, the yield is rather tempting at the current level. The CEO certainly has a personal interest in maintaining it.

Well Lamprell just announced what we all already know.....that 2015 is a bust for the sector and that hit their share price by 11% so I do think it is possible we could see 520p in the next few months.....unless oil suddenly bounces back and there is nothing to suggest that is going to happen at the moment.
When the rout is over there are going to be some great bargains but it looks like that is 6-12 months away.

Quindell tripled in the last 7 days. Oversold shares can move up very quickly.

I put support at 520 then 417. This looks as if it is going to go lower but is deeply oversold so could bounce and hopefully stabilise at any time. The oil sell off is surely overdone - or the world is on the brink of economic disaster. Copper don't look good either!
