In all the excitement of a modest rise back towards where we should have been anyway, no one seems to have mentioned what will happen to the share price if Velociraptor comes in with a discovery. P mean is 210 mmbo. That one alone has to add £1 if it has oil in it. Thoughts anyone?

Matunde - there are 90 oil and gas companies listed on AIM, from huge outfits paying dividends like DGOC to tiny minnows with a market cap of barely £1MM.

I'm sure collectively the posters here could give you 90 different tips.

So, you need to think about what your time frame for investing is, and what kind of risk you're comfortable with. Are you trying to make 20% from quick daily trades and move on? Do you want to find a company that won't be exciting but you'll be able to sleep in your bed knowing that in 5 years it should have made you good money. Are you following momentum, like those who pile into a share, follow a rise and then cash in. Do you want to bother learning anything about the principles and risks of these companies' business?

Once you've sorted out those sorts of questions, then you'll get less random answers. But it's a heck of a risky sector, so please don't put your life savings into one company.
