28/11/2003 12:54 | Can ADVFN do something about that bloody PDA bouncing across my screen. It's really starting to annoy me now. Is this a ploy to get more punters paying for your pop-up blocking deal? | mkearns
21/10/2003 08:39 | Pogo - if you can still find one. By far the best web browser on the market, email, mobile phone, txt, mp3 etc. Uses your normal mobile SIM. GPRS. | sbs
20/10/2003 12:44 | I am looking to buy a PDA, with Internet capabilities - and at the same time, an internet package which had a capped price pcm. What can anyone recommend? tia fb | farnesbarnes
31/7/2003 15:33 | yup thats makes sense. The PDA page doesnt really explain the benefits of paying a monthly charge. Much clearer now. Sorry to keep bothering you on the subject. But definitely a way forward in Trading technology. Good stuff. Thanks | hooya
31/7/2003 15:30 | Hooya, Not exactly, if you surf the web using your mobile phone, the network will bill you for it either through the phone call of by megabyte if you are using GPRS. Our pages on the PDA site are what we call 'light pages', they give the user all the important information but in a way which don't use a lot of graphics or 'heavy' html. This keeps the network costs down and the site quick. If we were introduce streaming in our site, you would constantly be down loading data, costing you more money. Make more sense? 31/7/2003 15:26 | ok so if we/you subscribe to 'PDA' there is no download charge to the user from the phone network?? but if we have a PDA with java we could view normal streaming charts etc but the network would charge us for the download..Correct? | hooya
31/7/2003 15:21 | Hooya, Well we have thought about this and there are two main reasons why we don't do this. The first is that our streaming charts rely on Java being installed on the PDA, now only the real recent PDA's support this, and they don't support it very well as they are not powerful enough The second is the cost to our users, if we start streaming data directly to your PDA, I guarantee you that you will notice something within the first month, that being your Mobile Phone bill :) Streaming data to you PDA doesn't cost us any more money, but it is going to cost our users a considerable amount. This doesn't mean this is never going to be introduced, we are always keeping an eye on the new technology, and if the situation changes we may well introduce it. Steveb | steveb
31/7/2003 15:13 | why cant you access normal streaming charts with a PDA Steve? Whats the difference? | hooya
31/7/2003 15:07 | Dinos, To use the PDA site you must purchase a PDA from a suitable retailer (unfortunately we dont supply them) and subscribe to one of the PDA deals. More information about the PDA subscriptions can be found The reason we charge for this service is because we supply LIVE data, opposed to most of our competitors which supply only supply delayed information. If you would like to request a free demonstration, please call out support team on 020 7070 0900 Steveb | steveb
