NT has done a top up with PAYS, 1500 Shares bought at 385 P. Good to see that.
His new update on the 6th. Showes up under his tradings.
He does not show any sales of PAYS shares.

Also, I believe the HFT algo's exacerbate the swings in both directions, following the trends. Many small trades being printed every day. This keeps the spread tight increases liquidity. Perhaps another tick on the short selling checklist. All IMO. I remain long and have been adding.

It's the same on the way up - people get frightened into buying a stock.

And don't forget stop losses kick in adding to the downward trend.

Just think of it like any price movement - shorters are selling by the fistful and so the laws of demand/supply kick in. As you say, they hope to pick up a number of PIs on the way, as they're frightened out of the stock by the unexpected / unexplained drop in price. Just helps the downward momentum.

Oh ok. Thanks for the explanation. So the shorters get the downward momentum going, then it kind of snowballs as Pi's sell up?

This may seem like a stupid question but how do the shorters control and drag down the share price? I know they borrow shares and then sell them if and when the price goes down but how have they pushed it down so far?

As someone said Sands is an advent shorter hoping for a bid at these low levels or an acquisition so they may well increase their short position. AEK may well want to start closing theirs but to prevent a short squeeze they will most probably do so over a number of weeks.Who knows what PEP will do.all imo

I have been looking for the update from Barclays in Hargreaves bot nothing, only the last November update from Canaccord, tried calling H&L but they just tell me there updates come from a third party

Hargreaves has not updated for the deutsche upgrade yesterday or the berenberg note today which must be out for the conference

Hopefully the Berenberg conference will create some positive spur, JL's slot is at 2pm. There are quite a few fintech's attending.

It must be very tempting for AEK who opened their shorts from 6th June 2016 to 10th Oct 2016 , to close with a nice profit rather than wait for the others to close which would elevate the share price
It wouldn't surprise me on todays rise that they have started to buy back their loaned shares.
