Joel Leonoff CEO has exercised option over 3.4m shares and retained them. That is good enough for me to continue here, shorters likely to be burning their fingers.

If you look at the careers website there are lots of new roles related to fans entertainment and potential new ibm mobile payment jv. A year ago post skrill paysafe had 900 jobs whereas they now say they have 1800! This indicates to me a gear up for big growth/big launch.

yep - it is known as a "short squeeze"

it works like this - AEK have to buy back 15mn shares to close their short at open market prices ( that volume is equivalent to a full weeks worth of normal trading volumes). AEK have two options they can go to the market in one lump sum and try and buy 15mn shares in one transaction ( probably through GS) or they can try to do it in stages but this risks broadcasting their intentions to the market who will watch as they start to close their position and then push up the share price aggressively.

I recon we are good for a 10-15% rise out of the back of this bringing us up to between 500-525p : that leaves AEK with a huge loss - probably about £25mn in total.

If the share price rises in the meantime due to a strategic tie up announced at money 2020 then the above number could easily double.

Im a bit new to this. Does this mean if AK close their short then the price should shoot up?

AEK are more than £10mn in the hole on what looks like a very bad call on their part....... and the size of the increase in their short is getting smaller and smaller....looks to be smacking of desperation at this stage.....my guess is GS will up the Intial Margin on the CFD pretty soon( before 24th Money 2020 presentation) and that will be the last we will hear of AEK short on PAYS as they close position.

BTW the share price has increased by approx. 25% since they first shorted it on 14th June.... so the last thing to fear is a short from this crew.

Isn't 3.01% exactly the number that Goldman Sachs have an interest in?

I know nothing about AEK short but is it affected by the change in Cable from before Brexit. If so they could still be on a profit even with an apparent gain in the pound value.

AEK have a short on PAYS of 3.01% now, it has gone up !!!
I wonder what their motive is ?? I hate shorters.
I think it is a USA Co.Registerd in the UK. I can't find much about them.
I hope they don't do the Quindell, on PAYS. A bit of a worry for me.
Wolf and EH9 thank yuou both for your input.

Nice start - could get back to the 460s with the current sector attention from the Hills situation.

I think this is the same as the capital markets day we had on 10 Nov last yr - perhaps rebranded as an IMS - Internal/Interim Management Statement

Look like a bit of a roadshow in the last qtr.... Morgan Stanley TMT and Berenger...perhaps that is to fill the market in on new "partnership" announcement post Vegas :)

cable (£/$)could trade a lot lower. Both atm vols and the risk reversals are trading much higher for the gbp puts. The market is clearly far more uncomfortable with a continued move lower, which is causing the purchase of protection. When protection gets too expensive/ liquidity dries up, the only hedge is to sell spot which causes the move to become self perpetuating.

£:$ fall should as you say benefit PAYS in a material way IMO / DYOR etc, yet market not really reflecting that yet, no idea why...when AVS, BUR, (two I hold) Miners, AHT and others are all moving nicely...!

absolutely ..... a broker can just rachet up the initial/buffer margin on CFD as they see fit, smart risk manager will make sure they do just that ahead of 24th October if the position is still open..

I notice the increase of the size of the short has been dwindeling - running out of appetite, steam and money methinks

Given there is an 8% short in ladbrokes it could be related to that not that paysafe in reality will trade in line with ladbrokes

The most shorted stock on the FTSE is carillion, a company that increased its divi EVERY YEAR through the economic crisis.
I don't hold it myself but logic does not necessarily come into it!

The short was taken from June long before 2020 announcements flagged. Besides the average punter has yet to click onto the significance of the 2020 launches

So goldmans could really trigger the squeeze.2.7 seems a pretty large position to takeInsane with the 2020 event taking place
