The SA political situation is not helping atm.Look at the share price of Old Mutual,Investec etc all with SA connections, and suffering badly.Paf has held up well.It could create a good buying opportunity.

A bit surprised that the share price has hardly moved on such a good deal. The profit made in 12 months on this one deal represents about 3% of the market capitalisation of PAF.Clearly the mkt is underwhelmed or is it just 5th April effect?

hundred and seventy five million rand)" R157m profit in 12 months (£9m approx) and R125m in cash which is £7.4m,to fund ongoing ops/diversification. Well done to Cobus Loots and the BOD.

Ifthecapfits,

I noticed that late last night and looked at the Rand/US$ exchange rate which has fallen back, with gold priced in US$, it will lead to lower extraction/wage cost.

You mentioned here yesterday that a single share trade can be a sign
of something positive, we have just had one at hgm, fingers crossed
for one at both.

South African President Jacob Zuma sacked his popular Finance Minister Pravin Gordhan late Thursday, local media reported. Gordhan, who was regarded by many investors as an emblem of stability in Africa’s most industrialized economy, is to be replaced by Malusi Gigaba, previously the minister of home affairs, according to the broadcaster eNCA. The move came as part of a wider cabinet reshuffle that saw nine ministers and six deputies sacked.

"It's carnage in the Sarf African cabinet! The person that NEEDS to go, wont. Too hung up on trough snuffling & abusing power. Same old Africa."

Gold Sparkles On Risk Aversion

Gold futures continued to rise Monday, posting the highest settlement price in a month as traders expressed risk aversion.

April gold rose USD7.20, or 0.6%, to settle at USD1,255.70 an ounce. The advance has gold on the verge of its highest since last November.

Falling stocks and geopolitical tensions have lifted gold's safe haven appeal.

There was little reaction to nebulous statements on interest rates from Chicago Fed President Charles Evans.

Evans said that only two rate hikes this year "might be right" if uncertainty grows, but that there could be four interest rate hikes if "things take off."
