I reckon $30 Arris price at £1=$1.2365 is about £4.85 Pace equivalent, so not far off Christmas today.

video of a pheonix haboob. a haboob describes a weather event in which a collapsing thunderstorm exhales a burst of wind. this burst of wind, or outflow, collects dust in the surrounding arid environment, which can grow into a towering dark cloud that sweeps across the landscape.

haboobs are common in the desert southwest and the middle east, where the term originated. (habb is arabic for wind). they are very localized phenomena, as opposed to dust and sand storms, which tend to cover more territory. of note, the plural of haboob is haboobies

I revisited the spreadsheet again over the weekend and worked out that from my original Arris entitlement at the merger announcement date in April 2015, I had more than doubled my holding by 16th February this year (in absolute terms, not percentage). I have subsequently sold off over half of that increased holding.

But the net effect is that I still hold just over 90% of the Arris shares that I was entitled to under the merger terms in April 2015.

So I will be very tempted to sell a few more if and when we get to Christmas (£5-equivalent) or maybe even slightly earlier (particularly perhaps if we are just short of £5-equivalent going into the 3Q results). But as usual when the Pace/Arris share price is on a tear, I see the possibility of it continuing higher for some way, so currently intend to keep most of my remaining holding for a while longer.

At the Per Aquum Niyama resort in the Maldives, customers can dine with the fishes while seated at an underwater restaurant.

To reach the restaurant, called Subsix, diners must take a speedboat 500 meters from the coast to its offshore location. Floor-to-ceiling glass windows allow visitors to observe over a hundred different coral reef species, making sure that it will be a dining experience that they’ll never forget.

My wife's target remains £5 and mine is $50, though I see realism more like somewhere in the $40's and well within a couple of years, which conveniently ties in with my view of the likely time horizon for an oversold £. There also feels like too much momentum building in that chart now, and the business, and so possibly no need to chase an earlier exit.

Bashor - I am with you 100%. The market for Network and Cable equipment etc. is just right for Arris to grow very strongly during the next 18 months. My target still remains $40.

for the first time in history, bees have been to be added to the united states federal list of endangered and threatened species. thirty percent of our food is directly pollinated by bees, which represents billions of dollars in value each year to the agricultural economy.

a recent study has also found that honeybees buzzing among roadside flowers must contend with vehicle pollution as they learn various foraging cues, meaning they take longer to learn floral odors now polluted by vehicle fumes.

there’s a quote attribted to albert einstein that while likely apocryphal is nevertheless worth sharing, that “if the bee disappeared off the surface of the globe, then man would have only four years of life left. no more bees, no more pollination, no more plants, no more animals, no more man.”

Lightreading article with a bullish spin on the prospects for major US cable infrastructure investment: "Why Cable Is Upgrading Networks Now"

"In a research note this week, Jefferies analyst George Notter said that Comcast Corp. (Nasdaq: CMCSA, CMCSK) is in the process of starting up a four- to five-year project that involves deploying an additional 1 million optical nodes around the country."
...
"With a confluence of economic and technological factors, all signs point to now as the right time for the cable industry to invest in its networks. "

It seems to me those warrant agreements with Comcast and Charter play right into this scenario, with Arris trying to make sure it gets (at least) its fair share of this spend and Comcast/Charter trying to get something in return if they decide to put a significant chunk of the spend Arris' way.

This article details a couple of analysts' initial reactions to the deal: Needham maintaining "buy" and $32 target; RBC maintaining "outperform" but raising target from $33 to $35.

Disagree with some.

The pound will fall further, more upside to Arris.

But then it's easy to be brave when you've sold 70% of the old holding at a humungous profit :-)

Best selling opportunity for a while I think this afternoon. Halved my HSBC ISA holding at PIC equivalent of £4.73, thanks to double-win 2% drop in GBP and 5% rise in Arris.

As Warren Buffet said - always leave something for the next guy.

I just don't think the % gains forecast are enough to justify a big long position any more. Feeling somewhat relieved that my ISA portfolio can be rebalanced now.

No idea bashor, but wherever it is it looks like it might be a bumpy ride. We've certainly hit the $1.22 you were talking about 2 days ago much earlier than I expected. Now just need the $32 part. In fact $31 would give us the £5.00 equivalent at the current xrate I think.

What are people's thoughts on where the pound is heading verses the US Dollar?

My thoughts are we could easily see $1.15 or even $1.10 given that we are likely to lover interest rates again and the US look like raising there's
