26/3/2006 19:16 | The analogy I was trying to make is that we know small particulates can cause long term side effects in the lungs, and cerium oxide is a small molecule that might get bound up in the soot and also inhaled. I'm not suggesting any bad health effect, but the possibility is always there. The Material Safety Data Sheets don't suggest a low level toxicity, but that could change if delivered into lungs via soot. The US EPA will probably be the agency that really looks in to this so US approval is pretty critical in my mind. I'm not sure what other major refiners/resellers such as Shell, BP put in to their diesel, so they might already use something - though not a metal oxide. It's more than likely not going to be a problem at the dosage level used, but is one thought I initially had. Though other constituents of diesel fumes are probably far worse (such as soot). Given the increasing price of oil, then the potential savings to be made from the fuel additive become even greater, so could swing the balance quite markedly in favour of using it. As I say I'm on the sidelines until I see how the company is developing. They seem to have several technologies over a wide range of applications, though probably none of them unique. | cootuk
26/3/2006 18:42 | Soot is from incomplete combustion. This product is meant to increase the efficiency so surely less soot. Or am I misinterpreting? | elfman

26/3/2006 18:39 | No idea really. Their make-up products don't appear to be unique so may already be subject to pricing constraints. The fuel additive could go either way - could the catalyst in exhaust fumes cause some longterm bad side-effects? - we know diesel soot is linked to asthma, so not too sure what a small oxide like this could do. I'm on the sidelines until I get a feeling that things are going in a more defined direction. | cootuk
26/3/2006 12:32 | cootuk, any predictions for the results. I am hoping there will be increased clarity about future plans for products (especially their new acquisition) and potential income from this. Plus of course increasing profits and contracts. But I am very easy to please, so my wife says anyway ;0) | elfman
15/3/2006 08:23 | Never known a share to be so static. Good positive comment from yesterdays RNS. "Nanotechnology is a fast growing, fledgling industry," said Dr Kevin Matthews, Oxonica's CEO. "It is therefore very reassuring for our customers and investors to know that Oxonica has rigorous quality control procedures in place meeting the globally recognised and respected ISO9001 standards at all stages from consultation through research and development to final products." | elfman

07/3/2006 11:13 | Shouldn't we have had a notice of interims by now? Can anyone confirm date, website says Interims March 06. Tried to get hold of Richard Clarke but only got answer phone. | elfman
22/2/2006 06:39 | To me the lateral marker application briefing looks like they're just giving a heads-up to the industry that they are seriously looking for a partner. Showing it to a group will get the oooh-ahhhh factor and seems to imply they haven't got anyone lined up at present, but do have something that works on a limited basis. The first question one should ask is - how much? - given the time to market could be 3-5 years. Does this signal another rights issue in the near term to fund it? | cootuk
21/2/2006 22:44 | Interesting RNS today cannot see the point in it unless they have something further to announce and they want to give us the 'heads up'. | elfman
21/2/2006 12:56 | As someone previously mentioned, Stagecoach are purchasing £50m worth of new buses to expand UK operations. Assume these vehicles will also be using OXN additives... | krishall
21/2/2006 12:35 | The next 'big' thing for the company is really the US approval of the fuel additive - if they get that, then I'll be buying in. Given potential fuel savings, I'm surprised more companies haven't taken up on it, unless supply is the problem. | cootuk
21/2/2006 12:32 | elfman... agreed they have existing products... that's why I bought in to hem last year. however, find it a little strange that they put out a news release containing info on a project that says commercialisation is three to five years away providing they find a suitable co-partner..... never seen an RNS like it before. personally I would have thouht that this mornings single announcement could have been put out in two seperate releases ... | krishall
21/2/2006 11:22 | krishall don't forget that they are already selling products. The diesel fuel enhancing product worked so well for Stagecoach that they bought 10% of the company. They also have their sun cream product. The results will give an indication of current turnover and forthcoming income. The new pipeline is the icing on the cake and will drive future share price as well as ongoing deals. It is also worth noting that the recent acquisition accepted 168p per share. A slight premium to share price at that time. All obvious I know but this is not simply a 'jam tomorrow' company. | elfman
21/2/2006 09:14 | looks like there are only a few of us 'still' interested in OXN. with commercialisation of one of the technologies being 3 to 5 years away, then I look forward to Dr. Michael Natan describing the specific near-term opportunities for applied nanomaterials. | krishall
15/2/2006 10:39 | It will be interesting to see if final results give any update about approval for the fuel additive in the USA. I'm on the sidelines atm, just waiting for more money to come in. | cootuk
15/2/2006 10:07 | Thanks damanko for your reply. Nice to know that at least 2 of us are vaguely interested in this stock. If we can get 2 friends to buy then we will have a market ;0) | elfman
14/2/2006 20:49 | elfman, what I do know is that FTVC has 5,683,108 shares in Oxonica. I'll look at the relevant Foresight "C" report, that should say what proportion those shares represent. Still looking good, I think. Quite a bit in the national press over the last few days - about Stagecoach buying new buses etc. Wait small........... | damanko
14/2/2006 19:50 | Seems to be a very illiquid stock. Does anyone on the board know how many of the shares in circulation are available to trade, roughly . Some good news in March and this could motor (hopefully). | elfman
09/2/2006 16:08 | Got 168p per new share. I guess the market doesn't believe the company was worth £9 million. Time will tell. | elfman
09/2/2006 16:07 | .. nearly at an all time low... but wil refran from calling it a buying oportunity quite yet... | krishall
09/2/2006 16:05 | well the aquisition news crtainly helped the share price go down like a lead balon.... guess that's due to the dilution... | krishall |
