Oxford Biomedica Takeover Rumours (OXB)

I've bought a fairly sizeable position over the past week, recycling the gains made from a takeover offer on SPT. Although the markets are different, the offer is to eyes similar: core services for larger corporates, with significant regulatory/ quality barriers. The only niggling concern I have is that there is a great deal of spare capacity in the general vaccine manufacturing market post COVID, but am satisfied that the contract development aspect of the CDM offer is a strength for OXB given it's long propiatory history.

Completion of takeover of ABL expected imminently.

You look at it with a Market Cap of £200m and £130m of net cash and think this could be ripe for a takeover. Not sure who the potential main industry players could be. Lonza maybe? Any ideas anyone?

A muted response to a very reassuring update.It speaks volumes about the state of the UK equity market in general that it is failing to attract,not only investor interest from domestic UK pension and insurance companies but from overseas financial institutions.In international terms,the UK equity market,courtesy of overregulation,costs,stamp duty etc has become a backwater.There are numerous good quality UK companies languishing on undemanding ratings that will inevitably attract takeover interest from foreign competitors overtime.Oxford Biomedica is very much in this ‘takeover’ category.
