Pug.Nice to see someone else around!
I was lumbered with old etechnology VCT, Then became Gateway VCT, now ortus.
Since post report published to Feb 10. NAV 42.7. Helped by 2 million share buy back, but a confident move anyway and only worth a couple of p perhaps.
The Vyre valuation is interesting - as you say big chunk. I had looked at web sites some time ago and they seem substantial and successful.
I will look again at this.
I would have expected that when merger took & more recently when figures have been announced that Auditors would have been very careful to ensure fair valuation.
At around that time someone did tell me that they thought the new Managers were very comfortable with the valuation of Vyre when asked the question.
Assuming the auditors are satisfied then the gap to NAV could be helped with tax free dividends and/or further mergers with other VCT's, or a simple assett sale!
The point i made on my post of SCE was that AGL was within Ortus portfolio & there is a choice for AGL fans to get exposure with a risk spread at big discount. AGL is only small part though!
Generally Maven I am sure will put bigger well thought through deals in as part of a spread with other trusts.
The share buy back was interesting and they must have thought bottomed out as could have simply bought more share stakes.
I will post any information I find on Vyre and other holdings.
There is a good spread of established operations now and personally i think the spread will reduce as Maven are proactive and experienced. How they will do it is the question.

Gelp: Picked up your comment on "surface trns Gelp - 3 Jun'10 - 08:24 - 87 of 88" and having a quick look as the old Gateway had been on the watch list.

While there has been quote a bit of share price activity in the last few days (maybe your comments !) the spread seems much too wide. share price has been in continuous decline (maybe as too small and holdings mainly unlisted private coys) also no real research on the underlying assets of the Fund.

Some 30% of "value" appears to be in Vyre Limited. A google search for the company throws up a software coy but would need to do a full Coy House seach for the accoutns etc.

Have you got or been able to do any research on the investee coys ?

Long time investor of the former Gateway, GTW named VCT interested in any views of progress to date.Any comments from Guiness Flight holders of VCT which was merged as well? On the surface economies of scale.

Hi John,

I've just checked with Barclays brokers and they confirm TCH is the new ticker but as you say most sites are still catching up. However, there's been no news today posted at Barclays and as i said their prices still indicate no change since Fri.

Regards
Pete

Thanks, Pete

Possibly the existing company with the TCH ticker is now delisted and the ticker is bien re-used; but ADVFN and TDW (for example) have not caught up yet.

Cheers

I think you may be right as ADVFN UNDER Financials is showing this ticker as Techcreation replacing Orientrose 2. They are waiting for some more details but it looks like the share price has gone up slightly from 7.5 mid price to 8p.

Lets hope we get some more info soon, my broker gave me the ticker TCH BUT maybe he was wrong!!

Has anyone found any new 'ticker' yet - or even a use of the new name other than in the EGM statement?

EDIT: Company named Techcreation with a ticker of LSE: TCHN. Is this it?

A friend of mine also bought thru Parker Row. They then came on hard to get him to buy Euro Capital. He told them to get stuffed. He bought 28th August and still no certificate. Are Orientrose now suspended? This rose stinks.

I have been looking into this as a good investment - another one of Vince Nicholls....Seems to be taking the cash shell market by storm...could be the new Shellmeister!

I usually deal through TDW, Comdirect and Selftrade (for ISAs), but I have dabbled with Barclays and Hargreaves and the odd bucket shop (if I may use the term!) so I still get calls from them.
