Eric,
I have no wish to trash ORCA or my investment in it.

The lack of any any positive new information relating to ORCA's IPTV products winning market share over the previous 6 months is disheartening.

I would understand your positive attitude more if you posted some evidence to make everyone share your confidence.

to add to ericthecat, orca also have one of the biggest names in the industry for middleware. There problem is the product is expensive and the minnows can not afford. I'm pretty confident they will be bought, the IPTV arena is ripe for it at the moment.

please, the number of competitors are 30 or 40 orca is still in the top 3 and have won a number of contracts over the last year, the two cases you point to orca did not even tender for, so they are unlikely to win!!!!

They are doing fine.

please can you point out who are beating orca before trashing them, microsoft because of their size but are still having huge problems. siemens, ericsson, ect have still to finalise middleware....watch this space it still has a while to go.

Yes, with the increasing rate of contracts placed with ORCA's competitors I can't see any chance of ORCA tempting any buyers.

July 09, 2007
LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--NDS (Nasdaq:NNDS), the leading provider of technology solutions for digital pay-TV, today announced that it has signed a contract with Inteleca, a triple-play operator in Siberia, Russia, to provide a VideoGuard Express system for the planned launch of Inteleca's digital cable TV services in the region.

Chrisdgb,

The lack of attention is because Orca has loosing existing contracts and failing to win major new contracts for the last couple of years.

Contracts in the IPTV market have been growing significantly in the last two years.

Despite this last weeks Emblaze trading statement said "Orca Interactive undergoes operational efficiency measures to overcome the period of difficult pick up of IPTV services worldwide."

For example today another new IPTV contract (using GDB middleware)

[UKPRwire, Sat Jul 07 2007]

Global IPTV Domination Achieved in UK with Major VeHDa Deal

IPTV specialist, Global Digital Broadcast (GDB), has signed a deal with leading UK provider of advanced high-definition and digital technologies, VeHDa, to release and install 500,000 IP set-top boxes (STBs) within the UK consumer market by the end of 2008. Of these half a million units, 100,000 boxes will be installed, by VeHDa engineers, directly into customers' homes by Christmas 2007.

This partnership utilises the resources of both VeHDa and sister company, Play TV, including: over 200 installation and service engineers, strategically located around the UK; and an 800 strong force of sales and customer service staff. Over 200, new, VeHDa/Play TV-branded vans are also being deployed to transport the boxes.

GDB co-founder, Mr Jim Deans, says: "Our marriage to VeHDa and Play TV finalises our route to market, allowing GDB to continue with its engineering and software platform development whilst knowing that consumer interests are being handled by a team of experienced professionals."

The high-definition VeHDa set-top boxes are programmed with GDB's middleware and will be pre-programmed with over 700 channels from 84 countries, allowing UK consumers to watch 'local TV' regardless of their geographical location. Initial channels will include; GDB's own niche, local and international channels; Play TV movies, Play TV entertainment and Play TV sport; popular generic content and terrestrial freeview.

In my opinion ORCA is not offering the IPTV product the market wants as there are so many other IPTV middleware solutions winning market share.

TAIWAN: Chunghwa to offer 'Microsoft TV'

Tuesday, May 22, 2007

By Lisa Wang

Chunghwa Telecom Co, the nation's biggest telecom operator, said yesterday it hopes to broadcast TV programs via broadband networks using Microsoft Corp's Internet television software as part of a broader plan to expand its TV business.

Chunghwa Telecom is set to sign a memorandum of understanding with Microsoft today to jointly explore the digital home market, Chang Yi-fong, managing director of Chunghwa Telecom's Internet TV unit, told the Taipei Times.

"Under the agreement, Chunghwa Telecom will participate in the initial-stage trial of Microsoft's Internet TV software, dubbed 'Microsoft TV,'" Chang said.

What happened to ORCA and Chunghwa ! (has ORCA lost another contract)
