I was about to compile a list of UK stock's with option chains and assumed my problems accessing ADVFN options data was due to the browser I was using. Did they explain why they deleted the feed?

The only pricing I have access to is the broker/s and the link in the header to the unbelievably backward NYSE EOD report!

UK & US Stock Options - UK equity options EOD end of day price data available in report form!!!

ADVFN have confirmed to me this morning that they have deleted the option feed.

HarvIt's sometimes hard to find the share one is looking for on De Giro. However the options search function produces bewildering lists and I end up backing off with headache.

I am using dgriro for share investments and find it very useful for placing limit orders at low cost . Also used it in the past for shorter term CFD trading. I have discontinued CFD trading since it generates so many daily statements in the accounts balance report.
The platform is good for low-cost trading but the reports need improvement.
They have promised improvements but are slow to deliver.
I was not even aware that the do options !
Still trading options occasionally with good results .
Latest trade: sell BT Feb 300 puts @ 6.75

DysonHooverman, this thread is for people that sell (write) options. I have posted a link on the other OPTS thread to some FREE software which might help you determine the positioning of your strategy.

Added a link for the Hoadley Option strategy Payoff software to the header. There is a free version! I paid for mine (more features) although I dont use it extensively it's very good for testing bright ideas... it has saved me from blowing my account up quite a few times.

Anyone using the De Giro trading platform? It claims to support options trading but so far I have not found how to use that part of it. It is however a very good low cost trading platform.

Quick question before I do something stupid again:

I've got my (example, fictitious: gold) trend made out between $1198 and $1225 for instance. I want to purchase calls and puts at these prices as the price floats inbetween and sell out when the range ends- nothing crazy really. Bearing in mind I would like to take advantage of out of the money options where possible, when is the best time to buy and sell my calls and puts? How would you do it?

Often I fall down on the simple stuff when I have been away for a few years so no harm in checking with those who are keeping their skills sharp.

Stavros,

My firm stopped me doing them, which is why I no longer trade. I had an extremely profitable 10 years.

Hey Alp. It's been a busy 3 years in many ways, except that of trading. I've done very well with corporate bonds and listed property stocks, neither of which needed much of my time. I've punted a few options (mainly ESX) here and there but not in any volume. Nothing open at the moment due to ridiculously low volty. It's almost worth buying a straddle but can't quite bring myself to do so. What are you up to ?

Not at all Stavros - writing naked calls this year (UK domestics) has been a one horse race as posted above a while back. On the forex side it has been more than a little profitable. ;)

Hope all well Profit. What are your main plays at present?

Trading Options is a little bit like the penny Arcade, if you BUY Options you will come out with empty pockets !

The Option thread participants have succumbed to the mathematical probabilistic outcome, may they rest in negative Account peace . RIP

Alp what you after lots of ETF units you can hedge with in the US that have option chains excellent liquidity and narrow spreads !
I trade and run a hedge against my US Dollar positions.
