27/4/2011 11:15 | I agree with what you say ..the only thing I would argue with was at the time of the Investec investment and loan the company was under the cosh on the debt with the bank and covenants were in bother. They were in a hole of their own making. Without Investec ( or a similar deal ) we might not have got here and with 50p at all. It could be that in fact they were really struggling to refinance the loan now as well but I doubt it to be honest. I think the timing is poor since I want to see the results to March before I accept | harrogate
27/4/2011 11:09 | RIP Applied Holographics! After many many years of promise alternating with failure the end of the suffering has come. In the context of recent history the 50p offer (done deal) will come as a welcome relief. However, it is the very least that the Company is worth based on current trading and certainly is not generous. It looks to me that Investec have carefully worked their way into this position and have throttled the company into submission through predatory (immoral?) financing when the company ran out of cash at the very worst time. Only recently the company announced that its loan repayments had been deferred (the loan is with the buyers!) pending further announcements and it seems likely that Investec has implemented an option to acquire the company (and exercise the massively preferrential shares) and I suspect this has been going on for the last 2 months.... I'm really not happy with the way the company has sold its soul to Investec... Of course, if you ignore the massive/obsence Investec financing costs (investec!!) the offer is paltry. I wonder what Katie Potts of Herald makes of it all??? The fact the management, and indeed everything/everyone continues as before suggests this is all a big stitch up. Harrogate...thanks for all your valuable wisdom and comment over the many years. I will miss that and the peaks (some) and troughs (lots) that has been APH and OSG. Investec? Vultures! | bearfoot
27/4/2011 10:05 | Well, glad that I held on for the extra few weeks. - partly due to some comment on here so thanks! Been in this one for 10 years + and overall out at a small loss but much better than when they were sub 10p!! Have to look for my next 10 year loss making investment now!!! | seahorsel3isure
27/4/2011 08:56 | The deal was leaked and they were finalising the paperwork but felt that they had to put out an announcement yesterday ...Can't see the problem myself. | harrogate
27/4/2011 08:50 | I cannot believe that the cash offer was not on the table before today's RNS....its more like they drip feed the info with yesterday's RNS... | diku
27/4/2011 08:16 | On the long view they are picking this up cheaply at less than one times sales but given the share price in the last however many years 50p will do for me. I was in a lot of pain at 9.5p to sell a couple of years ago or so so to get out at a decent profit is a relief. It is much better off as a US PE investment than a listed Uk company | harrogate
27/4/2011 08:10 | well done guys | davydoo
27/4/2011 07:57 | That will do for me I think | harrogate
26/4/2011 15:45 | Harrogate, you've twisted my arm 50p it is and they can have mine!!!!! | seahorseleisure
26/4/2011 15:36 | It will have to be at more than 28p that is for sure. The PE guys paid 35p a share for their prefs and I can't see that being enough. We have always said they would be bought out and I think if the numbers are due to be good for 2011 i would have thought 45p to 50p ... Let's say I would accept that !!! | harrogate
26/4/2011 14:35 | Has anyone got the time or inclination to work out what price the offer needs to be for the directors / major shareholders to think that it is worth their while accepting?? | seahorseleisure
26/4/2011 13:54 | ??? up 20% - whats going on here??? edit - just noticed bid approach | seahorseleisure
15/4/2011 18:07 | This sounds like wishful thinking even to me but someone paid 24p for 100,000 shares today. Must mean that the seller has gone away I would have thought?? Back to sleep now | harrogate
30/3/2011 00:32 | I'm happy to continue holding | playful
23/3/2011 13:34 | I can't see that selling now would be sensible ... it could be a good next couple of years. If we get a good forward looking statement with the results, a new broker note is promised at last and i am sure we will get a refinancing RNS in the summer ... COULD BE A POSITIVE TIME ... Where have heard that before !! | harrogate
23/3/2011 12:25 | Just picked up on this, suspect you're right harrogate and we'll creep up a bit but I'm like you, wish I'd never found Applied Holograhpics / Opsec!!! I'm pondering getting out completely at a big loss but: 1) Not sure its worth it unless I make other gains to offset (unlikely) 2) have held so long, whats another year!! :-( | seahorsel3isure
23/3/2011 08:02 | Had to have a few more at 18.5p !!! | harrogate
23/3/2011 07:22 | Don't sure we can expect much more than that ...I would be amazed if we don't head back towards 30p ..but if I knew about this share I wouldn't have a shed load bought at a higher price !!! | harrogate
08/3/2011 20:44 | Though I have a soft spot for this company I have a similar view to post 597 having read the RNS... | diku
08/3/2011 08:02 | It is difficult to put a positive spin on this since they could have said good positive discussions are taking place with funders and we hope to announce the details of the refinancing soon... given they didn't you have to assume that they aren't having any positive discussions. Having said that in terms of negotiations with the funders the extra time they have will help with them not being under the cosh. You would have thought if there was good trading update they would have included it with this announcement... also they appointed a new broker, Shore capital, a while ago and I would have expected a broker note. You would think they didn't want the share price to go up. Maybe they don't!! | harrogate
08/3/2011 07:52 | Hmmm.... The obvious conclusion is that they are unable to repay the (massive and very expensive) loan as agreed and are 'hopeful' (?) that they will be able to by the end of September. Whatever the case things are clearly not as they would have liked/planned and this has to be seen as negative news. | bearfoot
08/3/2011 07:08 | Just saw the news, had forgotten about this one, glad I didn't buy any last year!, however I guess this news is vaguely positive...? not really tempted though without any commercial news. | jonno1
12/1/2011 15:56 | If its any consolation harrogate, I've been holding these in one form or another for nearly ten years! And every time I think about getting rid (with large losses I might add) I either think: 1) its a decent business, must come good eventually 2) I can't lose much more so may as well hold on! Cheers, lets hope 2011 is Applied Holographics - sorry Opsec's year! | seahorsel3isure |
