Not sure that the read-across is justified - SHAW offer is from largest shareholder who wants to take it private again. Bur maybe if they get a decent price (i.e. the independent non-execs do their jobs) then maybe it will assist in sector re-rating.

Very bullish now with those results from ALD.

400p looks too conservative here imho

To me, this stock has been very predictable since last June.It is volatile, there was a blip from 350p level to 310p level, I did take advantage there but should have been more aggressive. UHound somehow managed to make on a short, against the tide, well done to him.It just feels like the stock is gathering energy to push up to 400p and maybe strongly through it.Wdik, DYOR.

FF,
I've bought 5 tranches over the past week, last one 361.5p yesterday, and these are to add to a full original weighting.

It depends on the way the market is performing.
I may offload one today, not sure, but others I'm happy to hold and target 400p (10%).

Not inclined to sell my original holding until results. If market is performing, no reason these shouldn't continue trending, 480p is still only P/E 12 after all.

RBS may be required to help 2nd tier banks, Nationwide housing survey says house prices accelerated last month, trend is still up here for now IMHO.

I note more volatility again today after decent gains last week, I remain baffled with no idea why.

Mazarin,
I wouldn't say I'm right, I make plenty of mistakes.

One could draw a line on the support trend since last August, with results coming out 16th March and banks doing well, I'm looking on a move back up to 400p+ level.

Time will tell.

Looks like, you 'called it right' again che7win and its not the first time that OSB's share price has violently zoomed down and then quickly recovered within days, without any obvious reason. It certainly smacks of 'price manipulation' and any historical review of the trades preceding the several volatile sessions that took place, say over the last few months wouldn't take that much of an investigation to identify the serial beneficiaries over that time. It ain't 'rocket science', it'll all be be in the records. It just needs the will to do it, but my question is why do it with OSB? Is it because of it's size that a relative small number trades either way have a significant effect? I remember when buying OSB a while ago the price moved in minutes against me. It can't have been coincidental, the rest of the world surely didn't also decide to buy at the same time? Either way it leaves a nasty smell...!

Future,
of course, Chinese walls are very robust indeed.

I am sure that there are very robust "Chinese walls" at Investec between the analysts making recommendations and the dealers on their "house account" - so absolutely no possibility of any "pump and dump" activity (or the opposite, whatever that is called).

OneSavings Bank, up 4.1%. Investec raised the lender to Buy from Hold ahead of its full year results on March 16. "We regard OneSavings as a high quality, low risk business with a disciplined, 'investor-friendly' management team," Investec's Ian Gordon said.

What did I say, three days after Investec downgrades, they move the stock back to a buy. Play them at their own game.

I did take two nibbles at 364-365.5p earlier this week.

Must be news out to push this up today.
The market was falling over itself to get in this morning, why?
