It looks very much like Zuma is the ‘crim’ in all this!

“Opposition parties also rallied behind the finance minister, accusing Mr. Zuma of using the charges to direct attention away from his own pending corruption case.” [1]

"Going into Tuesday’s news conference by Mr. Abrahams, many commentators had expected an announcement on whether the National Prosecuting Authority would reinstate 783 corruption charges against Mr. Zuma."[1]

"Peter Attard Montalto, an analyst at Nomura, said the likely purpose of the charges was to remove Mr. Gordhan from office and regain control over public money controlled by the finance ministry ahead of the ANC’s congress in Dec. 2017, when a new party leader will be elected. He estimated the chances of an early exit from the Treasury by Mr. Gordhan at about 50/50.

The likelihood of a guilty verdict—or even a trial—against Mr. Gordhan are much lower, Mr. Montalto said. “We do not think ‘factions̵7; and ‘forces’ within the ANC and aligned to President Zuma want to see Pravin Gordhan in jail, or indeed that this case could ever come to trial given the politically damaging evidence that could be produced,” he said."[1]

No it's not. It's the rand weakness caused by their highly regarded finance minister being subject to a criminal enquiry.
