11/10/2015 20:07 | Yes, but there is great opportunity in this share in my opinion. We are not far off the whole share price being represented by the investment portfolio (worth £4.50 a share) and Wilson & Sons (a great business) thrown in for free. Watching closely and already doubled my position in Hansa Trust. | topvest

15/9/2015 09:32 | August's numbers at Wilson & sons are very interesting to say the least. RG had a really good month, TS showed an improvement on last year. The big surprise was a fall in the Towage numbers, which somehow came from left field compared to previous months which had all shown steady growth. LOTM | last of the mohicans

15/8/2015 20:45 | Hi Flyfisher, Thanks :) finally found it, not by the usual methods thou, which is why I thought they hadn't issued it. I wouldn't say the numbers were that strong being inflated by 11,500 more empty TEU's at RG than in July 2014. Nevertheless better than they might have been given the state of the Brazil economy. Thanks for the info Piedro, interesting development going forward :) LOTM | last of the mohicans

15/8/2015 08:41 | LOTM, July trading volumes were released a couple of weeks ago and were very strong. You will find them on the wilsons website. | flyfisher
15/8/2015 00:44 | Hi Piedro, Ideally I think they would be best served with 2 berth of say 350M & another of close to 300M. Half year results are out, don't look too bad. EBITDA up quite a bit I don't see any figures yet for July's traffic numbers, however this is interesting Which would indicate that June's good numbers at RG were followed up with something similar in July. LOTM | last of the mohicans
13/8/2015 02:19 | LOL And what are the "right berth sizes"? And for which year? They started out with 2 berths of 240 and 220 mts In the 2010 expansion they increased the berth and yard area by 177-200 mts to give 2 berths of 240 and 377 mts. If their concession is renewed with the new CAPEX project, they will only be able to extend the principal berth by 400-500 mts (depending on the allowance) and it will also mean reclaiming land for the yard area. | piedro
13/8/2015 00:36 | Interesting find Piedro :) Maybe they will get the right berth sizes the next time !! LOTM | last of the mohicans
12/8/2015 10:13 | CABOTAGEM PUXA CRESCIMENTO DO TECON SALVADOR 11-08-2015 O crescimento de 12% na movimentaç&at Translation: COASTAL TRAFFIC PULLS TECON SALVADOR GROWTH 08/11/2015 The 12% growth in the movement of cabotage and 5% over the long haul, recorded in the first half, reinforce the arguments of Tecon Salvador on the need to advance the renewal of their concession in exchange for an investment of R $ 537 million. Currently, the terminal can receive two ships simultaneously. With the expansion, it would be possible to work with three vessels simultaneously. They moved, by cabotage, 24,000 TEUs (20-foot containers) in the first half, against 21,400 in the same period 2014. ... ... | piedro

30/7/2015 13:56 | TTIE, The medium-term share price could be difficult to predict if it is to be tagged to the Brazilian economy but Wilson Sons are holding up very well IMO and are getting the right sort of write-ups by the local press. I would go so far as to say that they are well protected in most sectors | piedro
29/7/2015 21:12 | Piedro - hmmm maybe I have called this wrong medium-term. Brazil Real seems to be plunging. We shall see. | trytotakeiteasy
23/6/2015 21:50 | Piedro - markets look ahead. at the recent share price Wilson Sons is on around 11X forecast earnings for 2016 and 9.3X for 2017. The yield for both years is 5%. So if the share price of Wilson Sons picks up, which it should over time, and the Brazil real at least stops depreciating then Ocean Wilsons asset value will go higher. The crux is when the worsening of the Brazilian economy starts to decelerate and we can see the corner in sight. Things should turn around by 2016 at the latest. These are my working assumptions anyway. The bottom line is that Wilson Sons is a great long-term stock which should see strong long-term results. Spoke too soon. Share price down again!! At least the investment portfolio balance of £4.72 a share should provide some support. Now 53% of the market value of Ocean Wilsons. | trytotakeiteasy
16/6/2015 16:38 | tttie, I like your optimism. Did you know that one of the services offered at their dry-ports is relabelling imports for the Brazilian market - "tropicalization" | piedro
16/6/2015 15:04 | My take is that Brazil economy will be under pressure for the remainder of 2015 and may start to recover in 2016. The cheap Brazil Real may spur exports of certain goods such as agricultural commodities. However, it will serve to curb imports along with weak consumer demand. Crux is when Brazil Real starts to stabilize and then strengthen. When this happens the asset value of the Wilson Sons stake will increase in sterling terms. Current situation is very frustrating but things should start to improve in a year's time | trytotakeiteasy
16/6/2015 15:00 | something more to think about ... Maersk Line sees lag in Latin American ports Jun 15th, 2015 In the short and medium term, it will be difficult for Latin America and Mexico to receive latest generation ships carrying 18,000 to 20,000 TEUs, even with the opening of the expanded Panama Canal. .... .... hxxp://thebulletinpa - interesting times :-) | piedro |
