05/1/2006 12:03 | vassily - thanks for AR. presentation My research on OCE has left me with so many "unknowns" that i am inclined to wait until i see final accounts in a few months time. The valuation of listed stocks say for AR. and RHEP is easy to quantify. What is harder to work out is the unquoted stuff. On crude calculations, since summer 2005 AR./RHEP down values £4m, and Bralorne is at 75% of value. I reckon £5.7m in total for downs (AR.,RHEP,Excalibur, but NAV 27.91p for NOV suggests £4m for ups - it's a mystery. Have no idea where the £4m up is allocated ! Having written down assets so much it is easy to magic values back Clearly if AR. and RHEP move forward, OCE will be a superb play imho | giant steps
05/1/2006 03:27 | This is from the AR. b.board. aaargh - 4 Jan'06 - 16:58 - 72 of 73 If anyone is interested, here is a link to the company Nov '05 presentation. V | vassily
29/12/2005 04:20 | Price of Bralorne Pioneer Gold Mines Limited (BPM.v) has moved up in recent weeks. Perhaps interest in gold mining shares has risen, and will continue to rise. V | vassily
21/12/2005 11:02 | RHEP - RNS 21 December 2005, Notice of AGM " The annual general meeting ('AGM') of the Company will take place at the registered office of the Company, 7 Pilgrim Street, London EC4V 6LB, on 20 January 2006 at 10.00 a.m. A notice of AGM will be sent to shareholders shortly " | giant steps
20/12/2005 12:10 | Vassily: I agree, selling down RHEP is a poor decision (if that's the case) | giant steps
20/12/2005 11:47 | Now that would be a mistake. OCE has a whole year to think about RHEP. And RHEP has some potential in the Indian market, as we read this morning. V | vassily
20/12/2005 11:40 | RHEP 2 trades just published, wonder if they're OCE ? (poor price) 2m @ 8p, 2.1875m @ 8p | giant steps
20/12/2005 10:37 | daz2004 - money management often requires uncomfortable decisions Sometimes it's a case of run with your losers, if the belief is still there | giant steps
20/12/2005 10:34 | The debts are nearly gone, going soon or gone. I think in last full or interim report debts were 3m. V | vassily
20/12/2005 10:30 | So throwing in you chips to pay of debt...as I said a concern indeed. | daz2004
20/12/2005 10:27 | Need for cash i believe is to reduce debt, as stated on several occasions | giant steps
20/12/2005 10:27 | GS: Nice one! Daz2004: You may be right. I already aired some dissapointment on this board about this, but they had a reason(s). Big debts. V | vassily
20/12/2005 10:22 | To sell their holding in TMC was a big mistake. I have to question what the need is for the money? Another investment? Well I'm biased of course, but holding longer term would have returned significantly greater profits, selling before the realisation of higher returns is the short-sighted approach and regretable, isn't exactly helping the sp, do they need the cash? That is the next question for concern... | daz2004

20/12/2005 06:40 | GS: FYI. I believe St. Barbara Mines Ltd. was swallowed by Defiance Mining, which was then swallowed by Rio Narcea Gold Mines Ltd in June 2004. I assume OCE now holds some share of Rio Narcea (RNG). V | vassily
20/12/2005 03:49 | GS: I look forward to your research and findings. Thanks for the RHEP tip-off. V | vassily
19/12/2005 16:09 | Vassily: very presentable results from RHEP, just released... | giant steps
19/12/2005 13:36 | Vassily: no doubt that if AR. does well next year it will have a very positive effect on OCE. My only concern is AR. represents unrealised Ocean gains, and they may use this to tidy against unrealised losses. If OCE is truly still going for windup, then AR. may experience some price pressure, similarly RHEP. One to watch. Over the quieter festive period i will have a good look at OCE investments. I will post my findings/links here. | giant steps
19/12/2005 13:28 | GS: Yeah AR. is very important. I have been following AR closely ever since I bought into OCE. All the AR news is good so far, though I think things have gone a little slower than OCE had hoped. My only concern is that OCE might wind up before AR. proves its worth. I wonder if OCE board will think it a mistake to wind up the company when commodity prices are rising. I know they have some who want to get out for various reasons, that inlude poor performance, but it maybe premature. I assume the board can always change its mind as nothing is set in stone. I must say though, I have thought about getting out of OCE myself on numerous occasions. V | vassily
19/12/2005 12:43 | AR. is the golden apple for OCE, with promising unrealised gains. Unfortunately this investment has been a disappointment in 2005. Care, falling AR. may have a short term impact on OCE NAV. | giant steps
18/12/2005 12:37 | GS: Seems it's more complicated. Merit Mining (formerly Jantri Resources Inc.) acquired 100% of Gold Cities British Columbia assets, but not all its assets. The other Gold City assets were amalgamated with San Gold Corp. OCE may now have interests in Merit (Jantri) and San Gold. It's not clear, but that is how it reads to me. I think I will not dig any further into this. As you quite rightly say, this is not a large % of the OCE portfolio. V | vassily
17/12/2005 10:30 | Merit Mining acquired 100% Gold City OCE 30/06/05 owns 360K shares in Merit , which is peanuts in the big picture | giant steps |
