Meanwhile, the Thrust and Fold Belt project offshore Sicily, containing potential multibillion barrels of oil is also moving forward, with partner Shell recently appointed to hold discussions with the Italian authorities ahead of potential drilling early 2012.

Ahh good old TW telling everyone this was as cheap as chips and a buy when here surely knew, as most of us did, that this sort of news was a possibility.

Will NOP make a statement?

Shell have problems too according to that article:

"Other oil companies have asked to explore the seabed. Shell, for instance, which has six permits, has received a suspension order in respect of three, and has been asked to postpone everything until next March in respect of the other three.">

It just gets better and better. Mind you , they would never have done any drilling anyway. The permits where Shell is the operator were the only ones where anything was likely to happen and I presume it is those that are mentioned elsewhere in the article.

I, also, will be hoping that this 'not so good' news is in the price already, however I have a feeling that it could be tin hat time again....it will be by my side at 8.oo am tomorrow, just in case. Good luck to all that still hold.

No oil exploration off Sicilian shores, but Malta approves more
Article published on 12 June 2011

"The oil exploration that was to be carried out by Northern Petroleum in the sea off the southern shores of Sicily have been blocked, Italian Under-Secretary for Economic Development Catia Polidori told MP Angelo Capodicasa from Partito Democratico this week."

"Northern Petroleum had two approved permits but its exploration has been suspended."

To be honest , the wine is all a bit dubious there. Best to stick to a pint or three.

bdog,Of course, that's where I have been going wrong...too tight fisted.

I was struggling because they didn't have Hirondelle or Blue Nun.

"Some studies show that drinking a large amount of alcohol over a short period of time may be significantly worse for your health than frequently drinking small quantities."

Bionic seems to top up throughout the day: significantly better for his health than drowning sorrows in one heavy hit in the evening.

However, if Shell proceeds, hits oil and declares a worldclass reserve, he will then go out and celebrate with a crate of champagne, which would be far worse for his physical health (and his hangover).

The lesson to be drawn is that backing winners is bad for your health. Thus so far, NOP has been an excellent investment in that regard. Indeed, if it continues the way it has been going, nobody will be able to afford to wreck their health.

Miracles can happen, though. I'm actually in profit on Torotrak.

Cheers
